I’d take that. Lees and Pope did well. One of them has to be looking to be batting still at tea time tomorrow given the benign surface. If they are then we can take a draw possibly.

Oh good let’s change the ball again. Whoever is responsible for making these things needs sacking.

Moeen Ali has just announced he’s unretired and available for England selection. In essence saying he didn’t want to play for Silverwoood. Wowsers.
I'm not in the side at the moment and I did retire last year. I wasn't enjoying the way we were playing at that stage - we were losing a lot of games at that time and I felt like I was part of that. It felt like we needed a change. I didn't feel like I was getting into the zone of playing Test cricket.

I don't feel like I'll feel like that under the current regime. I've got to respect the game and the current changing room and the guys that are there. Leachy and Parky deserve to get a run and play. I don't want to disrespect that. It has changed but I want to let those plays.

I spoke to McCullum this morning and we did discuss Pakistan this winter. The door is always open, and yeah, I suppose I am officially unretired.

And a first half century for Lees too.

Bar a calamity should be a draw. Wouldn’t entirely rule out a calamity still but I’m guessing regardless NZ will bat next now.

Quite so. Ways to go yet. Bairstow loss a bit of a mystery decision?

I will say I’m glad they’ve not picked a front line spinner here. 4 front line seamers and one walking off for treatment.

Looked like just a brush of the glove from Snicko. That shot Stokesy out to, not his finest hour...

In comes Ben Foakes, the son of the referee who officiated the play-off final between ourselves and Reading in 1995.

Absolutely superb day for England. Couldn’t ask for better. 80 behind 5 left. Knock off some more and it could be an exciting finish. But main thing is NZ bowlers have a lot of work in their legs.
