We can berate the ref till the cows come home, but for me it’s incredibly stupid by Santos to give the ref a decision to make. Feels like he’s let the heat get to him.

Evatt constantly having a go from the sideline doesn’t exactly endear us to the man in the middle either.

Flanners has a theory that the only man who can beat Santos is himself – in his reaction if things don't go his way. The big man certainly seemed rattled. Sadly it coincided with the ref being a prick.

Really not sure what I'd do here. Bradley strikes me as a good lad to have on. I'd be tempted to leave as-is - 4-3-2 with MJ sitting; Dapo can track back and help the midfield. But with Jones and Johnston at centre-back, it might not take long for them to start going aerial. And it'd be some gut-punch if we lose to a goal involving Jamie Proctor.
Need Aimson on I am afraid - he’s not bad as a pure Centre half. Jones is captain…sooooo….

The referee is abysmal. Beyond abysmal. Yes. Biased even maybe.

But that 30 minutes of football from Santos was absolute garbage. Lumbering around like he couldn’t be bothered. Pushing in the box. Casually letting himself get turned. Argue the merits of the yellows. Howl at the ref. But Santos does this enough to know he’s a problem. He didn’t look interested. He’s captain. He’s here to stand up week in week out. And often he does. But too often he lets us down. Ridiculous heat and his teammates have to scrap for a half because he was a moron.

I’m fuming at the referee. But this happens. Good players don’t get in that position. Santos is for me a huge let down. Has talent. But mental application. Not enough.

There's plenty going for Big Ric, but for every yellow we grumble about, there's probably a few that on a different day he might have got, but didn't. Not able to watch the game, but feels like folks on here could see it coming...Should IE perhaps have subbed him as TD suggested?
Big call to sub your skipper, fulcrum and "best summer signing" in the first half. Not quite as big now there's five subs, but still sizeable.

However, also a big call to leave him on when it looked likely. Subbed Dapo on a yellow at Morecambe in first season.

Manager and captain both in the stands.

I understand we must be frustrated but we're sabotaging ourselves now.

No surprise either. Somewhat performative to go on the pitch, not confront the ref, then have a go in the tunnel (fourth official apparently).

Also less of a loss. He just has to sit in the stands. Maybe it'll give him a better view.

According to Burnden Aces on Twitter, Matt Gilks was also booked midway through that first half.

Questions have to be asked about the officiating here.

Things I didn't imagine I'd see as part of a match report. "Will Aimson replaces Dapo Afolayan"
