Re: creeeeeeeekeeeeeet
Robinson replaces Potts for the 2nd Test to 'exploit the expected bounce of the Old Trafford wicket", I see.
Anyone having a day out? I'm there on Saturday.

What will we do when Jimmy retires. Two in two balls......Sounds like our bowlers are on form...

Root gone 3 down for very few. Might be done in two days this one. Wouldn’t be that confident if I had tickets for day 4!

111-3 at the close, so 40 runs adrift from their first innings - hopefully we can build tomorrow.

Yeah finished well. Bairstow helped a lot. Need to bat most of tomorrow in ideal world and build a big lead.Worthy4England wrote: ↑Thu Aug 25, 2022 7:23 pm111-3 at the close, so 40 runs adrift from their first innings - hopefully we can build tomorrow.

I'd assumed that we must've won the toss - we didn't. What a strange decision

Re: creeeeeeeekeeeeeet
Cricket itself is full of strange decisions. Test matches are becoming more 20-20 than the Geofrey Boycott forward defensive era . We may have to rethink the five day soon, for ticket sales are a guessing game now.Bruce Rioja wrote: ↑Thu Aug 25, 2022 10:32 pmI'd assumed that we must've won the toss - we didn't. Re: creeeeeeeekeeeeeet
Tickets were always a guessing game - there are lots of examples from the 1930's where a Test didn't last 2 days. You get a refund on your ticket if the match is already over for the day you had a ticket...I think also, you get a refund if there's less than an hours, play on the day you had the ticket...TANGODANCER wrote: ↑Fri Aug 26, 2022 8:52 amCricket itself is full of strange decisions. They picked two spinners due to the pitch so had no choice.Bruce Rioja wrote: ↑Thu Aug 25, 2022 10:32 pmI'd assumed that we must've won the toss - we didn't. What a strange decision

Aye, saw both captains being interviewed about it last night.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Fri Aug 26, 2022 10:52 amThey picked two spinners due to the pitch so had no choice.Bruce Rioja wrote: ↑Thu Aug 25, 2022 10:32 pmI'd assumed that we must've won the toss - we didn't. What a strange decision
Stokes would've put them in to bat anyway.
Interesting that 'due to the pitch' we brought Robinson in but they picked spinners.

Nortje bowling one of the most exciting spells I can remember. 90mph plus reverse swing both ways. Good luck.

According to the BBC, the weather for tomorrow looks set fair. That said, the BBC's weather forecasts are generally as wildly inaccurate as the cooking times on frozen chips.Worthy4England wrote: ↑Fri Aug 26, 2022 1:54 pmLooks like you might be in for a good 'un tomorrow Brucie, weather permitting...
Indeed, I've gone from simply hoping for cricket, to hoping for a day's very decent cricket.

I'm off it just now; however, I've received some very decent news today and, well, basically the stars are aligning really, aren't they?!

A decidedly heartening performance, and Stuart Broad opens up with a six..

Superb batting performance. Rather fear the pitch has flattened out but still we should win this. Should.
