Re: Deal or no deal? - Summer 2022 Transfer gossip!
Reads like a made up rumour from an agent trying to fish out interest. Suspect he will go back to Ipswich if he’s available. Good player but he tailed off last season which would worry me. Also 26 and hasn’t made it. Though he would be the first Zimbabwean to play for us (I think!).
Just think it’s nonsense though. Can’t say I’m expecting much in now. I’d have thought we’d see some rumours by now if someone significant was coming in before Thursday.

I wouldn't give up yet. It's a weird window, what with people moving around urgently if they want to be at the World Cup.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Tue Aug 30, 2022 5:28 pmCan’t say I’m expecting much in now. I suspect Evatt won't know even on Wednesday night who he might be offered on Thursday. If we like them and can afford it, it's game on.

You wait ages for a transfer rumour and then two come along at once...
Nixon linking us to Liverpool LB/LWB Owen Beck (20), who's currently on loan at Famalicão in Portugal but hasn't played a single minute yet

That sounds a more likely link. And a position we absolutely need to strengthen in.brommers95 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 30, 2022 5:47 pmYou wait ages for a transfer rumour and then two come along at once...

Would do a lot in terms of letting Iredale slot into the back three which is would help and also avoid reliance on John who is often injured.
Iredale is not a wing back. He can play there but I’d not fancy a full season of it.

How could you forget LB extraordinaire Adam Chicksen Insane?!BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Tue Aug 30, 2022 5:28 pmReads like a made up rumour from an agent trying to fish out interest. Also, Gez Sithole is eligible for Zimbabwe through his parents, but not sure he'll be making any international appearances anytime soon

Not sure I ever knew Chicksen was from Zimbabwe. The Owen Beck link is interesting and makes you wonder if we might see a shock exit for Dec.
Personally I'd prefer Iredale becoming a centre back option and Dec staying, but I could easily see John saying "If I'm not first choice I'm out."

Unsubstantiated rumour but as I alluded to earlier in the summer there are whispers that John is one the club would move on and player would be happy to. Whether anyone will pay his wages and whether he can stay injury free for it to happen is another matter. Rumour and conjecture so I wouldn’t swear on it.GhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Tue Aug 30, 2022 6:25 pmThe Owen Beck link is interesting and makes you wonder if we might see a shock exit for Dec.

In the last leg of a window nothing would shock me.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Tue Aug 30, 2022 6:27 pmUnsubstantiated rumour but as I alluded to earlier in the summer there are whispers that John is one the club would move on and player would be happy to. If the kid Beck is half as good as Bradley then I'd probably make the trade, too. Last time anyone talked to me about Beck the story was he's amazing going forward but iffy going the other way. That was a while ago, though.
Anyone seen him play recently?

Re: Deal or no deal? - Summer 2022 Transfer gossip!
I presume Beck, like Bradley, would only be here temporarily.
If so, I'd be slightly perturbed at us losing a player currently here on a permanent basis for one who wouldn't be. It would also mean both of our presumed starting wing-backs - a position so integral to our system as it stands - are not ours.
I suppose it becomes a question of whether he'd have such a big impact to make it worth the gamble (or what the likelihood of is signing him permanently might be).

I will caveat that by noting that given our relative spending power and our determination to run the club on a sound financial basis, signing genuine quality in key positions in the form of youngsters from the very best clubs in the country is probably one of the best strategies available to us.

Can't imagine us wanting to do business this late into the window. I am very surprised to not see John in the lineup tonight so maybe there is some weight to the suggestion that he is looking to be off. Not risk it before the deadline.GhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Tue Aug 30, 2022 6:33 pmIn the last leg of a window nothing would shock me.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Tue Aug 30, 2022 6:27 pmUnsubstantiated rumour but as I alluded to earlier in the summer there are whispers that John is one the club would move on and player would be happy to. Still I suspect that Evatt and the fans would be happy to see him remain.
That being said I suspect theres an element of him getting to the end of his contract and club looking to see whats around and the player likewise.

I think John's injured. Or at least that's what's been claimed publicly.

So John and Isgrove both have "knocks" and we've been linked with other players? Bit of drama near the end of the window? I like it

Did I mention Owen Beck in my potential signings? Possibly not as although he fits the bill, he was already on loan. Would that mean he’d have to stay with us for the season?
IIRC he’s Ian Rush’s nephew…

Evatt: “Not necessarily out but possibly in. Obviously, we are always looking to improve and always looking for players who can add competition and quality to our squad. We will continue to look until the end of the window.
“There is obviously still room for improvement, and if we can add a couple more bodies in it will make us even stronger.”

One Liverpool echo journalist seems to be reporting Beck to us as a quite likely thing. Don’t know anything about him but it’s the right position for me. We need something else down that left hand side.

Bloody sideways passing and messing about. Reminds me of that Arsenal team we used to occasionally get a decent result against, but who also went an entire season undefeated. Useless bastards.
