Interesting to see different takes...

I can see both sides. I'd define it as pleasant but unpenetrative. Only one on-target effort in the match, and it wasn't from us.
Interestingly perhaps, it's not about us being tippy-tappy - we've had 56% possession, and we've only finished with lower than that once in the last 11 league games. That one was at MK Dons...
They aren't exactly defending in a low block but they sure are dropping into position. Given that they're also pressing us high (with their front three) then you'd expect they can't keep that up. We have subs to ask different questions - I wonder if it's a game for Sheehan and Sadlier? - but of course we have to make sure we don't let a soft one in first, 'cos imagine how long these sh!ts would take if they were winning....

I'm glad we try to keep the ball and control possession, but I'm not sure there's much excitement watching Gethin Jones in the #10 position while they've got 9 back.
They're playing perfectly against this shape. Press enough that we can't just let Bradley and Dapo go be wingers, but then drop back in and back the box.
Johnstone for Geth, please. And I wouldn't mind Sads for Kachunga.

Plymouth losing at home to Shrewsbury
Posh being held at home by Accy
Pompey losing at home to Oxford
Barnsley losing at home to Lincoln
Sheff Wed not playing
Ipswich winning (at Vale) the only ones in the top six to do so, so far at least
Funny old division

I thought we started very well and our passing and movement were clearly causing Burton lots of problems. However, we went off the boil before too long and began to look quite disjointed. Whatever system we're playing, it's absolutely not getting the best out of Thomason and Morley, who don't seem to know whether they're coming or going.
Burton don't look like they can score other than from set pieces, so I'd hope that with some fresh instructions from Evatt at half time we can come out and get this won.

Thomasson going to cost us if he continues like this.

I suspect the Johnstone for Geth would be much of a sameness. Change just to freshen things up. Personally I think Geth's done well so far today, and we all saw how instrumental Geth was in the past.
Sads I can understand as he's proved a genuine goal threat in other games.

Aye, when I asked for a quick start, it wasn't with the intent of knocking off early.The_Gun wrote: ↑Tue Oct 25, 2022 8:50 pmI thought we started very well and our passing and movement were clearly causing Burton lots of problems. For all of Burton's paucity, they're the only team to register a shot on target...

Is it me or is Charles lacking a lot of quality in his game?

Abysmal final third play again.
Needs a change.

Looks to me like Dapo is at 10. He’s not been near this left side.

The annoyance is the aimless clearances are landing right at Burton's feet when we can't find another Bolton player in the 18-yard area from 5 feet away.

Dapo getting booked for his protestations.
This has got sucker punch written all over it. Frustrations boiling over. Lets hope it doesn't cost us.
Story of our season so far, need to be more clinical.

We could have a shot from the half way line. The shot on target stat doesn't really mean much. We've been good at getting forward and close to playing through Bradley from Kachunga. We should have had a better shot and we have been the better side.Worthy4England wrote: ↑Tue Oct 25, 2022 8:54 pmAye, when I asked for a quick start, it wasn't with the intent of knocking off early.The_Gun wrote: ↑Tue Oct 25, 2022 8:50 pmI thought we started very well and our passing and movement were clearly causing Burton lots of problems. I think we have a new contender for time wasting award of the season. Keeper holds his head and physio comes on and stretches his legs.

Port Vale have equalised from 2 down against Ipswich.
3 points here would be very welcomed.

Dempsey is not the player people claimed he was. Charles lacks quality. System is wrong. Dapo needs to play in a front three because this game needs a moment of magic. Sadlier is a better player than either of our front two. And by some distance.

Why didn't Adeboyejo get a second yellow then for standing in front of the ball?
Re: Will Burton suit us? Bolton v Brewers, Tues 25-10-22. 7.45.
Was thinking the same thing. Don't mind the keeper getting some extra time to cover it. What's more annoying is the ref permitting Burton to take a good twenty seconds for a throw in.
