I also think whilst we’ll never know I think without the injury we might be looking at a different result. That really did let us just hit those two boundaries that changed the game completely. And then let loose in the next over. It was very hard to hit the fence and if it had been seamers all the way from that point…I’m not as convinced.

There's a reason most of today's team is playing one day cricket. It's because they can bat against good bowling...there are a few exceptions, but generally it's because they'd be found out too often at a better level.

Private Equity group trying to "buy" the hundred, for £400m. I'm sure Counties would love their share, but I think there needs to be enough control over scheduling, to not fcuk up everything else...

Not sure if I updated you on this, Buddy, but clearly my cricketing cohorts were allowing a day's ale in the sunshine to do their talking as when we got down to the hey-lads-hey the excuses gushed forth.Worthy4England wrote: ↑Sun Aug 28, 2022 11:42 amYeah, that's a great day...I've had similar musings, but suspect the wife would want to tag along...Bruce Rioja wrote: ↑Sun Aug 28, 2022 11:37 am
We're talking about 'doing a corporate' for the Ashes if we can (Breakfast, lunch, tea, Champers etc.). Not cheap, but definitely one off the old bucket list![]()

I'd still have loved to have bought in to 'The Captain's Table' package for the third day and ticked it off of the bucket list https://cricket-lancashirecricket-engla ... 1b246de7e/
But anyway, we're now down to Edgbaston for the Friday (1st day of the 1st test), nosebag in the Balti Triangle, a skinfull and a stoppy over. Sorted.

May the bridges I burn light your way

They need to get rid of it altogether. It will ruin English cricket in the long-term if left to continue.

That would work for me. Not sure it works for short of cash counties, though.

Re: creeeeeeeekeeeeeet
Unbelievable start in Pakistan. Made it to lunch rattling along at a run a ball without losing a wicket. We’ve essentially bought ourselves another session there which may be the difference between bowling Pakistan out on the final day and then saving a draw. Need to cash in now and get a properly big total.

Looked at the score earlier on and without working out the time difference thought ‘well that’s a good days work’ it was one session and lunch…
England are quite literally playing this in the manner of one day cricket. Over 6 an over. Thinking of the ODI final in 2019 England struggled for 240 odd in 50 overs. Already they are 280 odd off 45.
Quite remarkable.
Flat pitch though. And Aussies saying it doesn’t break up. Which means bowling them out twice won’t be easy.

Re: creeeeeeeekeeeeeet
Honestly thought this might be where the new approach came unstuck. They don't want draws but seemed more likely to be able to manufacture losses than wins. Still plenty of time for a collapse when big scores are needed but yeesh. Fair play!
God knows what a good score is! Put them in for an hour tomorrow evening when we're 700 ahead

Re: creeeeeeeekeeeeeet
What scoring so quickly has done here is bought us time to take those 20 Pakistan wickets. We’re already up to a total that we’d be expecting at tea on day 2. If we bat until lunch on day 2 we’ll be over 600. In a country where wins are rare that’s a great position to be in.

Most unlike our cricket thread.
There's a collapse on because they got Pope out. None of the batsmen have gone on to make big hundreds (two Aussies got doubles yesterday) and Root couldn't spell it...

Not sure but the last time we scored 4 tons in an innings isn't that long ago - 2007.Abdoulaye's Twin wrote: ↑Thu Dec 01, 2022 11:11 amFookin hell, what is going on?![]()
