Dapo with shades of offsides in the build up there. Great dribbling and now 4 goals. Lovely.

Hasney Aljofrees lad scored an OG
Vaguely recall his dad scoring for us…
Other father / son scorers for us?

Ref blowing early to deny us a chance of a possible 5th. Top drawer stuff.
Well deserved. Didn't see anything from those United youngsters that would make me think they'd be good on loan.

Dominant. Should have been more, had Dion and the rest turned up with their shooting boots. Yes, it was only the United kids, but you can only beat what's in front of you, and we did it well.

Kids or no kids, and a minor trophy regardless, Man United don't turn up to lose. They may well have expected an easy passage, who knows? Shooting practise is neve lost andtruewhite15 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 13, 2022 10:46 pmDominant. Should have been more, had Dion and the rest turned up with their shooting boots. I see that their goalie's modelling himself on Ben 'the hologram' Amos.
This got me thinking - Have Man U ever produced their own successful keeper?
I can only think of Jimmy Rimmer, however, he spent all his time there as understudy to Alex Stepney and left.

This was like Man Utd kids B or C team. Its not even their best youngsters. I'm happy to win and be through and good god Wembley is in sight and we should do everything we can to get there.
But they were dreadful. We didn't win a meaningful game last night we beat a team that wouldn't survive the upper echelons of non league football without weekly trouncing's.
So just some perspective needed in that we did the job eventually. But there was never any danger we weren't beating that lot last night. And I find attempts to suggest we've beaten Man Utd or whatever a bit embarrassing.

A friend's partner coaches kids at Man Utd's Academy. He told me how they trial 'literally hundreds' of kids every year.
On that basis, I'd have thought that last night's kids must certainly have shown no shortage of promise to have even made it to the level they're at.
Of course, they won't all make it, but my guess is that a fair few will (just not necessarily at OT).

I think that's somewhat different. Were it our second/third choice kids team (if we had one) up against them last night I fully expect us to have got thumped cos their quality will be greater.Bruce Rioja wrote: ↑Wed Dec 14, 2022 12:25 pmInteresting take.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Wed Dec 14, 2022 12:06 pmThis was like Man Utd kids B or C team. But it was our first team up against a bunch of kids a few of whom might make it but certainly not immediately. They will have some potential stars, but it wasn't a contest yesterday.

This is still a farce of a comp, for me, whichever way I try and look at it. Less than 5,000 watching and they bought 1,600...To Insano's point, they've won 1 game in their league all season where they sit 11th out of 14...So they're not really a very good U21's when compared to other U21's
Edit: There certainly wasn't a point yesterday where I said to mesen "Must get wrapped up and go and watch this!"

No-one is seriously suggesting we've "beaten Man U" in any meaningful sense other than to try to wind up United fans. And being all for that is a fundamental tenet of my being.
I'd heard of three of their lot, at least. But yeah, the tournament is a farce but you can only beat what's in front of you. And I'd quite like two trips to Wembley this year, thanks.

Indeed, however, you and I both know that we'll be banging our polo-shirted beer bellies together down on Wembley Way should we get that far.Worthy4England wrote: ↑Wed Dec 14, 2022 1:14 pmThis is still a farce of a comp, for me, whichever way I try and look at it.
