Can’t see us having got anymore than £50k for him, but still good business to get a few quid for him and his wage off the books whilst clearing a space for a more effective attacking player.
Another club were quoted north of the 150k mentioned. Given how badly FGR need him we may be surprised if we actually saw the terms.
Actually £150k sounds too much given he's out of contract in summer. £50k more likely.

I was told last summer that we valued Dapo at £1.25m (no idea as to the reliability of the source). I imagine that valuation has come down slightly this season with him not being a regular starter.
I'm fairly sure its not going to be north half of that. But I suspect we'll be looking at some add ons etc....

Ominous quotes from Evatt about one club splitting the fan bases opinion….don’t let him go to fecking Wigan on the cheap Ian.

Baka’s gone to FGR for an undisclosed fee: https://www.bwfc.co.uk/news/2023/januar ... en-switch/
Looked like he wanted to go out with a bang on Tuesday when he had a pop in the 92nd minute! Thanks Baka but I’m pleased/hoping we are upgrading.

We paid 300k for Charles in the same position, because Accy knew we needed him. FGR arguably needed Baka more. As Evatt said, a club had to meet our valuation which (in December) was slightly north of the 150k you mentioned.

Ha yeah. Well, I would hope and expect that he will be serenaded by BWFC fans one last time with his special song when they come to ours. Just once, mind. Then the battle starts.

Doesn't he just mean that some will be fuming we've sold him? I have absolutely no feeling on it either way.

I've been gutted in the past when certain players went but I think now as Worthy will say we have a bunch of league one players and whilst some have given us some great moments I'm not sure its close to losing the talents we lost in the top flight when players genuinely were irreplaceable for a club like ourselves.

Its clear from social media a lot of 'good to get the money' vs 'how dare the club sell our best player' stuff will be happening. That will always be the case. I think Evatt is just alluding to that. Frankly for me I couldn't care less if he goes to Wigan or St Pauli. Its move on and improve the squad.

If he wants to go and get relegated with Wigan we can buy him back next season at a discount.

Dibs – the quote is “This is one that will probably separate the fanbase and everyone will have an opinion.” I think that's The Sale rather than A Bidder. And as BWFCi says, he's right - there will always be those who don't want to sell our better players, and I understand that, but we have to get by somehow.

Again, but more controversially, I'm happy if Dapo leaves.

He wasn't adapting to that central role and I'd rather we got players who can do what we need than have a talented player go to waste.

The whole point of our recruitment is to sell players at a profit and here we are, doing that twice in a window (at least).

The money from this window will let us be more ambitious in the summer, as well as pay for much needed improvements in other areas.

I’m happy if he leaves so long as we improve on him and the squad in general. We have some holes. And we have a big second half of the season coming up. So we need a few very good players through the door. If we sell and don’t do that it’s a terrible mistake.

3 games without.

2 wins and 1 draw in which we should've gotten more.

Not saying it's a trend but it's possible to play without him.

I agree wholeheartedly with most of this, but I'm surprised it;s coming from the same keyboard that last week said he'd done f**k all for three months....

Don’t think I quite said that but he’s not done much has he? Which is why I was right in saying he wasn’t going to be a massive miss and I think the sale makes sense.

We still need those players though with that quality. We are 5th and in a semi, we don’t want to throw this season away. Dapo going probably doesn’t by itself but would if we don’t recruit suitably because it just leaves us fewer options.

I’ve barely noticed he was playing for the past three months most of the time. On his day he’s outstanding. He’s not had very many days this season.

It's highly unlikely that the Dapo figure will come out, but it would be really interesting to know.

Like I said earlier in this thread, I really don't see our current hierarchy (Evatt especially) being the types to sell assets on the cheap.

Given we spent £320k on Charles, who was older, was only contracted for another six months, wasn't playing at all at Accy, and we were still in a very cautious COVID-hit market, I'd be very surprised if we accepted £500k for Dapo at this stage. £1m sounds about right to me.

It's clear cut for me. Dapo is only our best player in a system we no longer play. He's been tried in different positions but he's not been effective. Someone(s) have said "here's your asking price, can we have him?" and we've said "yes". Now it's over to Dapo.

Everyone was lauding the idea behind moneyball when FV and Evatt came in but for it to work then we need to sell players for a profit. Then take that profit and reinvest it. Now we're doing that fans are moaning.

Sometimes I get the feeling that a large percentage of "our lot" wouldn't be happy if we signed Messi as his replacement as obviously he'd be an old knacker long past it
Age and treachery will always overcome youth and skill!

And the key to a result is a good :kettle:

TBF, Old Red Nose down the way, was pretty good at extracting "value" from assets but even he made the odd cock-up (thinking maybe Stam). But whatever the reason, neither Dapo nor Baka have looked like last year's vintage. Good luck to both, been a pleasure having them aboard...

I have to say, though, with this news and to your point earlier mate, I'd hope "exciting incomings" will be just that, and I'm unsure when he said "a couple more to come in" whether that was factoring in we were unloading 2...

Evatt saying the incomings weren't contingent upon Dapo money-raising implies that any cash received has not been 'expected'. How much of it is immediately reinvested - a word that means much more now than it used to - is up to the board, who have ponied up cash in two previous crucial winter windows; they wouldn't be selfish to want that investment back, but equally the fact they coughed up means they want us to improve.

Should Evatt be given, for the sake of argument, £500k to spend it would be up to him and Markham, presumably in concordance with the board, how to spend it. That could be a(nother) cash signing, or perhaps higher wages for a gamechanging loan... or we could simply save it for summer. I know which of those would be least popular with signing-hungry fans, and I can see their point....

Just catching up with the days events. Happy for Baka and would love to see him do well there. His debut goal v MK at a rocking Reebok and the opener at Doncaster, where the large away following and the low roof meant his song booming out all afternoon, will live long in the memory.

As for Dapo, during that spell early last season, where he was tearing up defences all over the place, I'd have laughed at any suggestion we'd sell him for less than a couple of mil. It now seems sensible to take 750k. Another player I'll always remember fondly if he goes.
