Someone mentioned Lyle Taylor, which I'd say was clearly a guess; but you'd probably get "shout" from it if you mentioned him down the pub.The_Gun wrote: ↑Mon Jan 16, 2023 10:24 amHighest likelihood must be a forward from City, Liverpool, United or Everton, right? And we could probably narrow it down further by removing those who are either too young/inexperienced or too good.
I would research this myself, but unfortunately my job will inconveniently get in the way today.
Like I say, too many possibilities to guess at from Marc's tweet - which was kind of the point. Get engagement, show he's "ITK", but keep in with the club by not speculating in print if they're trying to finalise deals.

Not one I'd have picked out, but he'd at least start every week.

Cheers.
Narrows it down by about 3 players. Only another 475 to go.

The Joe Gelhardt name is an interesting one as there was a piece on BBC Sport last week saying that Leeds are actively seeking to loan him out.

No chance he drops to League One. He was appearing regularly for Wigan in the Championship three seasons ago, and often gets on the pitch for Leeds in the Prem.sonicthewhite wrote: ↑Mon Jan 16, 2023 3:31 pmThe Joe Gelhardt name is an interesting one as there was a piece on BBC Sport last week saying that Leeds are actively seeking to loan him out.

Rumours are that Gelhardt has at least two Champo loan offers.

Re: January 2023 Transfer Window
I said on the other thread that Tyreece Simpson, named hereabouts previously, is struggling to get game time at Huddersfield. Same applies to Jon Russell - a 6'4 central midfielder out of the Chelsea academy, 22 years old, who hasn't played since new boss Mark Fotheringham's first game back on October 1st. Rotherham have expressed an interest, and there's a link to WBA through ex-Town boss Carlos Corberan.
Not sure he's Evatt's type though. Said to lack a bit of nous out of possession. On the ball, great; off it, plenty to learn.
Yep, might just be looking at squad stats for who's unused and unloved. That's January for you.

Re: January 2023 Transfer Window
I'll move talk of Ty over here. The issue for the kid is he has left Ipswich because they wanted to loan him out and didn't have a defined pathway into the first team to offer him. It's hard to see how he now leaves Huddersfield on loan without it being a minor crisis.
I think Evatt would take Russell. As you say, he has ability with a football (that lob against Luton comes to mind) and Evatt would believe he could get the rest out of him. He's also an absolute unit of a human being. Not just 6'4", but 6'4" wide at the shoulder too. I've met him and he doesn't stand next to you so much as loom.

Bottom of Div Two and quite likely to be in the National League in a few months. Surely he can do better than that?

They’ve just been taken over by a US property tycoon so have big bucks to play with and they’ve wasted no time in spending it, signing five players on big money supposedly. They’d most likely be able to match what Sadlier’s on at the moment.TonyDomingos wrote: ↑Mon Jan 16, 2023 9:22 pm

Re: January 2023 Transfer Window
For the past week Chesterfield fans have been talking about Tshimanga signing for us. As a BWFC twitter page has now brought it up it's probably worth mentioning.
We had talks with him about 18 months ago, but his demands were too high. He then suffered an horrendous leg break (snapped the bone and dislocated the ankle) against Weymouth a year ago and hasn't looked the same since his recovery.
Would be very surprised were this one true, but thought he'd have been a really good signing 18 months ago.

Ilesy roundup this morning saying hoping to have a third signing by the weekend. Also one out, but he says there “seems to be” nothing in the Sadlier Gillingham rumour.

Ah, thanks. Wasn't aware of the takeover. But, Gillingham is still a sh!thole!

Re: January 2023 Transfer Window
That's odd. Someone I spoke to yesterday, who should know, says there is something to Sads wanting away. Would be a strange thing to have out there if there wasn't known interest.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Tue Jan 17, 2023 8:23 amIlesy roundup this morning saying hoping to have a third signing by the weekend. I note in the article Iles is careful to say "As things stand."
Then again, it's January. A very odd time of year

Insane seems to know a few people at the club these days. I'd be interested to know if he has better info on the Sads situation.

Nah - sorry to disappoint. An acquaintance is well connected and when I bump into them I get a few good pieces of info but just depends when.GhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Tue Jan 17, 2023 9:51 amInsane seems to know a few people at the club these days. As for Sadlier haven't heard anything recently but the 'wantaway' comment I think probably was last I heard after he realised we weren't going to play a system that suits him or has a role for him.
The link to Gillingham having nothing in it would not necessarily be surprising if his agent is working on a move. John was set for Wrexham....I think we both know where that came from!
Will add that if Sadlier goes it leaves more holes - he's RWB cover - the only RWB we have. Currently he's also the only 'striker' or potential striker who is fit and eligible for the cup game too after Kachunga (ahem) and Charles....

Agree with all that, I think.
Agents are definitely working away in the background.
Sads going opens quite a few issues, yeah. Especially if John is also on the out. You have Jones and Williams who could cover right, but you then leave other areas light. You can only stretch a squad's versatility so far - as we learnt last season.
We'll have to see who comes in in these attacking positions this week to know if we can cover the loss of Sads in those areas. The defensive ones might require either a CB or RWB option coming in, depending who on our lists is available. Cutting it a bit tight on loan places in the matchday squads if we have to use the loan market.

At a slight tangent, if Dapo didn't fancy anywhere he's talking to, I wonder if we could get his head straight for a run-in..?
