That's what I couldn't work out either. Hoping it's two AND a striker.jmjhb wrote: ↑Thu Jan 19, 2023 6:49 pmAs such, Evatt has confirmed he will be looking to sign another striker – and could add another two players before the January deadline.sonicthewhite wrote: ↑Thu Jan 19, 2023 6:47 pmEvatt says in the article that he is now after another striker

He also intimates that Shola is going to play more as a no10 than anything else.
Is that 2 including a striker?

I'll be glass half full.officer_dibble wrote: ↑Thu Jan 19, 2023 6:44 pmSoooo am I glass half empty - some untested kid replacing our best all round centre forward and our player of the year (who FV have had their pants down for with that fee) or glass half full - exciting kid different to what we have rated by a strong manager, Dapo who wasn’t playing and Bod whose always bloody injured anyway.
I’d like another I have to say - someone like McGoldrick with experience who has the nous to be in the right places at the right times.
A player who is a natural 10, rather than a converted winger. Someone one of Europe's best managers thinks is a top talent. Someone with genuine pace.
His display against us in the cup was mature. He was physical when asked to be, played simple passes when it was the best option and had his head on a swivel; but could also shift and get at people. Should really have scored a couple.

Shayne Lavery, but that won't happen now until the managerial situation is sorted out. Mark Harris has been scuppered by an identical issue at Cardiff.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Thu Jan 19, 2023 6:50 pmGiven this kid is for number ten we need two strikers now. Minimum. And ideally that can play in the Mickey Mouse cup. So I’d ask who is available in the championship we can add?
There's always Ashley Barnes. I assume he still lives round the corner from Lostock.

Re: January 2023 Transfer Window
I've seen a lot of comments from people, especially on the BN site, that we shouldn't be loaning and developing other clubs players. I understand where they're coming from and there was a time that I was of the same opinion.
But now my attitude has changed somewhat. We can all see what Traff and Bradley have brought to the party and to a lesser extent Beck. But even though it's highly unlikely we'd ever get to sign any of them their positive experience with us may persuade other young players from their parent clubs to sign for us. You know, the ones like Dapo, who've got talent but aren't good enough for the likes of the first team at Liverpool, City or Utd.
Players who can do a job for us with a good footballing background.

I don't think Shoretire is a replacement for Dapo as I'm also expecting Evatt's signed him to play the No. 10 role, which, with all due respect, Dapo failed to demonstrate he was capable of.

Yeah, I saw that. Seems like an interim whilst they find someone. Not sure if that makes Lavery more or less likely to go. McCarthy will probably like him as a player, but will Blackpool trigger his contract extension ahead of appointing a new manager and if not will they want a fee for him now?nicholaldo wrote: ↑Thu Jan 19, 2023 7:06 pmRe. No idea. Will be interesting.

Re: January 2023 Transfer Window
Shoretire seems like a panic signing with a view to Derby this weekend. Given we've just brought in Nlundulu it seemed very much like we needed someone on the bench to cover the rotation.
Charles & Bodvarsson was commonly swapped with Kachunga & Bakayoko
With two of those gone it looks like we've just got replacements in. Can't say i'm overly enamoured with Shoretire but it makes sense in the short term to get us through the Derby game now Dadi is out.
Big problem we've got now is that some of the major players in our cup run are now out and we've replaced them with people who are cup tied. Nlundulu and Shoretire have both been involved.
These aren't big signings that are incoming, Nlundulu's record of 5 in 28 for Cheltenham isn't great and Shoretire has a decent record in the Premier League 2 (5 in 9) but its not like that's easy to determine how well that league will be against League One opposition. Hopefully it'll be a good signing but i'm not getting excited.
3 down, Dapo, Dad Bod & Bakayoko. I was confident that all three of those could contribute towards wins and had actually raised their profile to the point where they had value, as seen with Dapo and Baka's sales.
Now, within the space of a week, our season has been derailed.
I'd like to think that the backroom team have a bigger plan and we're actually targeting players that are of a higher standard and are going to be with us longer term, but I get the impression we're looking for a Dapo replacement (Assal?) that may have fallen through, and have now been thrown a curveball with Dad Bod.
I've got confidence in how we do transfers, but given what's gone on so far it looks like we're very much been kneecapped.

I do have a slight concern that "getting known to Prem Academies" might be somewhere in front of getting what we need now. Whether it pays long term dividends, I dunno...BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Thu Jan 19, 2023 6:24 pmSome untested United kid might be brilliant. But can’t say I’m enthused. We need signings who are ready to make an impact in men’s football. I’d far rather be signing established players or at least more experienced loanees. This feels very risky letting Dapo go for someone with zero men’s experience.

Wouldn’t say it’s that bad but definitely we have a much weaker squad now than start of the season. Or end of last season. So not seeing huge progress there.Mar wrote: ↑Thu Jan 19, 2023 7:27 pmShoretire seems like a panic signing with a view to Derby this weekend. We are two strikers short. I’m not convinced on selling Dapo until we knew what Dad Bod was up to injury wise.
We now simply cannot afford to sell anyone else. We must retain the squad. And add two strikers to it. No other options.

Not the only United youth player we've been said to have an interest in, but you suspect the other links are now dead for this month.Worthy4England wrote: ↑Thu Jan 19, 2023 7:31 pmI do have a slight concern that "getting known to Prem Academies" might be somewhere in front of getting what we need now. There's one that is definitely wanting a move this month, who's rep we've spoken with, but it's hard to see it happening now. I think we might want to try for a permanent move in the summer, but if he goes on loan somewhere else it'll probably be with a view to him going there.
Of the "available" players at Utd, I think we've signed the one we most needed.

John can still go. Sads potentially could too, but we'd need to get some more work done than I'd anticipate at this stage. We're probably going to be tight on two strikers. Need at least one very good one.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Thu Jan 19, 2023 7:45 pmWe now simply cannot afford to sell anyone else. We must retain the squad. And add two strikers to it. No other options.

I'd strongly suspect Ian felt we'd all be very excited by this and we've churlishly disagreed. Ungrateful, unwashed oiks.Worthy4England wrote: ↑Thu Jan 19, 2023 8:05 pmSo do we think this was the "exciting" signing or do we think that's another one?
We've looked at two Utd players for the summer, as I understand it. No idea if either is concrete, so I won't name them in case they are. I don't think they're Ian's "exciting" option, certainly. Pretty sure he means our new lad.
One is likely to leave Utd this month, the other almost certainly won't until the summer. The one leaving this month I don't think is due here, but I don't have any way of knowing that.

Yeah. I’d not write him off. It’s not his fault he’s been signed to a backdrop of losing three experienced senior strikers in a week. But he isn’t by any means the answer to that problem.Worthy4England wrote: ↑Thu Jan 19, 2023 8:10 pmI shall give it a chance, like any other signing, butright now...
