On paper, in theory, Jerome and Ade would make us stronger than we were up front. Depends on Jerome’s legs and how Ade fits in. But not sure Eaves etc would do.

Dunno if it has or hasn't been answered on here, though I know a couple of people on here know.Bertie Wooster wrote: ↑Thu Jan 26, 2023 8:56 pmGhost apologies if you have previously been asked & answered, however I have to ask where do you get all this 'supposed' inside info from ?. I know a couple of people close to the club but some of your posts about your knowledge of what's been going on has prompted the question.
Even your most recent post about knowing why Jerome went to Luton. As I say apologies if you have answered this previously but I've been away for a while and not been able to view the forum.
I used to work in the game (still do with spec work very occasionally, mostly during takeovers), including for Bolton during the late Prem and early Champ period.
*edit* Should add, I don't know anyone at the club (except maybe in the outer orbits of staff who've been there years), so if you know people close to the club your sources for what's going on there will be better than mine, because I've none.

Ghost, I only occasionally get the nod when a player has been at the ground etc. your posts appear to know about things prior to this, who we've been talking to or monitoring, you even said last week about pro BWFC video's being sent to Utd to try & entice Shoretire.
To know what you claim to be aware of, you must know people inside the club much closer to what you are saying.

Dibs, I'm not asking Ghost to reveal his sources - far from it, I was just suggesting that he's perhaps a little closer than he made out.officer_dibble wrote: ↑Thu Jan 26, 2023 9:49 pmHe might not want to (publicly) reveal his sources BW!

I'm assuming our intention would be to sign Jerome and Adeboyejo?

Re: January 2023 Transfer Window
Not sure what to say to you there, Bertie. I absolutely don't know anyone at that kind of level at the club anymore and haven't for some time. If I do hear things that relate to the club, it's not from anyone at Bolton. I think IE is worried about leaks, but nobody is leaking to me.Bertie Wooster wrote: ↑Thu Jan 26, 2023 9:35 pmGhost, I only occasionally get the nod when a player has been at the ground etc. your posts appear to know about things prior to this, who we've been talking to or monitoring, you even said last week about pro BWFC video's being sent to Utd to try & entice Shoretire.

I could pretend to be ITK and tap my nose, but it wouldn't be true.
I do know people who still work at the club - Phil, Andrew etc; but I'd not ask them for information and they'd never give it if I did.

Can you imagine the unbridled joy if we announced Jerome and Eaves on 18 months deals?nicholaldo wrote: ↑Thu Jan 26, 2023 9:55 pmI'm assuming our intention would be to sign Jerome and Adeboyejo?

Re: January 2023 Transfer Window
Yeah. I mean Luton are a good way behind us in terms of the PPDA he references (so were Leeds under Bielsa, if we're going to get into just how good we are at that and why Kachunga deserves credit - and maybe Evatt does a little too), but they're no slouches. If Luton have been happy to use Jerome in the Championship to set (when starting) or maintain (when coming on) the press, welcome aboard lad.
Obviously we need goals and those other boring things that people pretend to care about, but he can do that in between pressing.

Anyway. Very interesting BN morning piece. Evatt preparing ground for an unpopular exit? I genuinely don’t know who that could be…
https://www.theboltonnews.co.uk/sport/2 ... dline-day/
“Yes, there will be [more exits] and some may be a little bit unexpected – but my sole aim for every transfer window is to finish and exit stronger than when we started.
“Alongside that, I need to make sure I am making the best decisions, not for Ian Evatt, not for any individual, but for Bolton Wanderers.
“That is my pledge to the fans – I’ll do what I think is right to help this club move forwards.
“That won’t be everyone’s cup of tea but, genuinely, that is what I am trying to do and I can go to sleep knowing I am doing it.
“We are working hard and we’ll see where we get in this window but I’d hope we can get a couple of forward players in the building, which will help us, then there might be one or two more additions to bolster the squad if we feel we can let one or two go.”

Re: January 2023 Transfer Window
Evatt floating the idea of unexpected and unpopular exits. I wonder who they might be. One assumes a regular player because nobody is classing a Sads exit as unexpected.
So candidates:
Aimson perhaps? He’s obviously grown in popularity but the contract issue exists.
Johnston? Our best player probably all round, most sellable. I think this would be pretty disastrous all round tbh.
Morley? Can’t see it.
Santos? Can’t see it.
Dempsey? Selling him ahead of the court case? Seems unlikely to me.
MJ? Possible. Would not really be seen as unpopular.
Charles? I think that would be ridiculous.
Sheehan? Wouldn’t be unexpected or unpopular.
Conundrum this. Not sure we can afford to let go of anyone who is a major part of the first team squad. We don’t need that much change.

Ha, me and you both playing the guessing game mate. I wonder if we’re both jumping at shadows and the “unpopular” sale will be Sads - in the piece he then goes on at length to justify the sale. But Johnston did cross my mind. Would be v risky, I agree.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Fri Jan 27, 2023 8:17 amConundrum this. Re: January 2023 Transfer Window
And I do mean at length, even for Evatt:
If you asked Kieran does he want to play wing-back the answer is probably ‘no’ but he will. Kieran is one of those versatile players who gets moved around a lot because he can play in different positions, and it isn’t always the best thing.
What I will say is that when he has had the opportunity to start games in the forward positions, we haven’t seen what I would like to see. Kieran’s best performances for us have been as an impact substitute – and sometimes that isn’t what players want to be.
There is a trade off there between club, manager and player. How does he get first team football? He needs to be doing X, Y and Z.
Everyone will have an opinion – and some people will think Kieran should be in the team for the way he impacts games. But for us, we need to see that impact from the start, when he does start, more consistently.
He is a very talented player and a bit like Dapo, when we signed him we were still 4-3-3. And then we changed to 3-5-2 and he was most affected alongside Dapo.
It doesn’t mean to say he hasn’t had an impact, or that he won’t continue to have an impact, but for now if he wants to nail down a position in the forward roles we require ‘X, Y and Z’ consistently.
Everyone knows where they stand, they know where it’s at, and we’ll work hard with them to improve.

Immediate sense of panic said Morley out and Devine as short term fix.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Fri Jan 27, 2023 8:21 amHa, me and you both playing the guessing game mate. Evatt's talk of improving the quality through trading took me back to the known deckchair-swapping we've discussed already.
