I would hope he had better things to do (either Tony or the bloke upstairs)
I also hope I have to change that post again by early February....

Re: Contract expiry
Apart from Thomason virtually everyone with a contract expiring this summer could be gone. If we don't go up Traff, Bradley and Shola won't be back, Aimson could still choose to leave if he doesn't feel that he's a guaranteed starter, MJ and Lee could be the same as Aimson but could both potentially get another year, albeit reduced roles in the team. Sheehan and Isgrove scream upgrades on the summer horizon as do Kacha and Bod. It's not even guaranteed that Nlundulu will be offered a contract.
It does show that this summer is going to be an extremely busy but crucially a critical one, irrespective of the division we're in.
At least it'll be interesting.

Re: Contract expiry
Of those out of contract at the end of the current season, I'd currently only be considering opening negotiations with Lee and Dad Bod.
And of the group below them, Johnston is the obvious one I'd be offering improved terms to now.

Sure, and I'd only be "considering".
The exception would, and really should, be Johnston.

I'll go out on a limb and say everyone on this forum and most of the fanbase would offer GJ a new deal; but I'm not sure he'd want to discuss one until he knew which division we'd be in.nicholaldo wrote: ↑Wed Feb 01, 2023 11:01 pmSure, and I'd only be "considering".

Everyone will know where they stand at the minute. If he signs a new deal next week, fantastic. You suspect that if he would sign a new deal we'd have already tied him down. By this stage with Santos we already knew that he'd been offered a deal and I think he said he was focused on the season and would sign in the summer - which eventually happened. The offer was openly known, though.
Re: Contract expiry
Does anyone else think we might try and extend Shoretire's loan for next season?

On the basis of one game jmjhb ? Seems a bit premature so early? Just an opinion.

Re: Contract expiry
I think some outlines will have been sketched before he moved here. What we view the loan as achieving for all parties, how he'd fit in, whether he could have a role beyond this season, etc. That's pretty normal stuff.TANGODANCER wrote: ↑Wed Feb 01, 2023 11:32 pmOn the basis of one game jmjhb ? I think I said before he arrived that Ten Hag wants to look at him during the next preseason, so unless that changes you'd think we'd have to wait for the outcome of that.
Of course if he bombs it won't matter. We had "plans" and "hopes" for Xav and they went well.
The only one we currently know for sure is expected to be here next season is Nlundulu. He wants that and we currently want that. Suppose it depends if he makes himself worth whatever Saints value him at.

Just on a personal level they will be, but he's also potentially a multi million pound asset if we get promoted and he signs a new deal (we've just seen a Championship centre back sold for £15m. They'll be working on things in the background.

Hmm. Morning BN piece says Big Dan is contracted for 18 months with no fee-based release clause this summer.

Yeah, we've also not formally agreed any fees with Southampton for his transfer. It needs to be negotiated in the summer, if he is staying.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Thu Feb 02, 2023 8:30 amHmm. Re: Contract expiry
It might be hard for him to get enough game time to make an impact to push towards a permanent deal. In fact I hope he doesn’t as I suspect that would mean we have issues.GhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Thu Feb 02, 2023 8:31 amYeah, we've also not formally agreed any fees with Southampton for his transfer.
