Gethin makes the bench but no Dempsey and only six subs with no striker on the bench either.

Nice to have this back.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Wed Feb 22, 2023 7:02 pmDempsey and Jerome out. Jones on bench.
This is a really weak team. I fear for this. I really do. No strikers on bench. Down to Kachunga and Charles to do the business. No chance of changing it.

That is the team we feared would be put out!!!

Oof, that bench reaaally lacks options.
Re: Another fine mess Stanley...Away at Accrington in the Cup. Wed 22-Feb. 8-O'clock.
It’s really gutting that we don’t have close to full firepower at this stage of the cup.
Re: Another fine mess Stanley...Away at Accrington in the Cup. Wed 22-Feb. 8-O'clock.
It doesn't matter what team is put out as it's the best we have. If we don't make it through then so be it. If we do then fair play.

Genuinely fear this now. Had hoped we’d at least have Jerome on the bench. Can’t see how we can beat them with nothing on the bench and hardly an ideal attacking unit on the pitch. Love to be wrong. Just feels very very hard.
It’s an absolutely massive night in the Bolton careers of Sheehan and Kachunga. Really is. Shit or get off the pot sort of night for them. Show you are good enough to control the midfield against this sort of team and not drift in and out (Sheehan) and score critical goals in tight games (Kachunga).

Shocking team news in a match that is pivotal to our fortunes this season. Just goes to show the impact of selling off most of your forwards and replacing them with players that are cup tied, not saying its the wrong option, just saying its a negative consequence.
Trafford
John Santos Toal Mbete Bradley
Morley Lee Sheehan
Kachunga Charles
Dixon, Jones, Isgrove, Thomason, Williams, Khumbeni
What's the point in having a B team if we can't pluck at least one of the strikers onto our bench? I realise that they are more than likely not up to the task but at least we wouldn't be looking short on numbers from the bench. Conor Carty surely would've warranted inclusion but I suspect not the recall.
All in all, sad to see Dempsey not making it. Less so regarding Jerome. I suspect Jerome was signed specifically to provide additional cover in this match and during the season, so that's especially disappointing that he's out.
We'll have to be at our best today, but I am far from concerned.

The pessimist in me fears the Accrington at Wembley thing. We do like to oblige with these sorts of things. The optimist in me reckons a brace for Kacha, one for Dion and a late party piece from Toal playing as a striker to rest Dion. What odds am I getting for that?

I wonder if the thinking is that Lee or Izzy could operate as an emergency striker if need be?

Away on Sky is a different beast.
Early goals from Charles and Kachunga would be nice though.

Seems a bit like a might be expecting an onslaught, but we have what we have so keep the faith and best foot forward. With an Irish Dad (sadly deceased) the shamrock boys have akway6s been my second team, so come on Dion and Eoin, Erin O Bragh...

Bar Kachunga and Sheehan that’s close to our full strength side, so we can’t be too downcast.
Let’s take it to them straight from the off and impose ourselves on the match.

It's only 2-3 players off our strongest XI, hardly weak

Jerome, Victor, Shola all would get in ahead of Kachunga.
Dempsey and a fit Thomason ahead of Sheehan. Shola probably too. MJ probably too.
It’s not so much even we are down to 4th or 5th choices. It’s that there is nowt attacking wise on the bench at all. Which we have relied on most of the season. Indeed coming here it was changes off the bench that got us back in.
Re: Another fine mess Stanley...Away at Accrington in the Cup. Wed 22-Feb. 8-O'clock.
It's the strongest side we could put out given those that are available. You may question whether it should be John or Williams but that's possibly the only change that would be considered.
Kachunga's had plenty of game time this season and Sheehan is well experienced so the people suggesting we shouldn't be too downhearted are right.
The problem we do have however is that our side has very much been a case of play 60 mins and rotate with impact late on. We don't have that so the usual game plan goes out of the window and we have to adapt accordingly. Additionally our usual defensive strength in midfield give us concerns but we should be stepping up given whats at stake today.
Another problem is we've been accustomed to what Shoretire and Dempsey have been offering us. That'll be a concern that the usual attacking fluidity is disrupted.
Thankfully though our defensive situation is retained. We should be able to solidify here and hopefully we'll snatch one up top and secure the result.
