Lots of possession but no penetration yet.
Elsewhere, Ipswich and Plymouth both winning - very bad news for Sheff Wed, who aren’t, and have played a game more. As it stands they’re 3pts plus a heap of GD off 2nd.

Let's see if an early brew helps.

Demps drags another shot just wide of the same post; they’re our only efforts so far. We need to balance patience with penetration - created there by Demps running at them.

Shrews defending in the old Pulis-style phalanx formation - low block of four, with four midfielders on their toes, rarely straying outside the width of their penalty box. We need to stretch them by getting high width, especially from the wingbacks. Randell is asking for the ball higher than Bradley, but not getting it.

I'm mystified as to what Randall brings for us other than mainly backwards. Josh S, started strongly but has pretty much disappeared. Vic could probably sign a few of his autobiographies in the Club shop...

Randell is a winger who likes to cross. When he looks up he might just about be able to see Vic but Dion is lost in a thicket of oxen. Crosses might not work but we need faster interplay around the box. Only three efforts on goal so far - the third am way block from a Bradley effort.

At his best, Shola is precisely the sort of fast interpasser we need. But he’s been poor. Not sure we need both Morley and Sheehan in the midfield (in this game in this state) so we could sacrifice one, switch the midfield and get Shola on.

Damn, Dion is frustrating at times.

Dire. Dire. Dire. Dire. A half of mind numbing awful football. Sideways passing with 11 static lumps who have absolutely no idea what to do to break a side down.
No intensity. No desire. Nothing at all I can say that is positive bar for a lad playing out of position MJ looks the part.
But it’s shocking. Absolutely shocking.
Next half if we aren’t putting the ball into the box every single time committing men in there, getting behind them out wide and delivering we deserve absolutely nowt.
Ban sideways pointless passing. Ban it. It’s absolutely killing any chances we have.
Sort this absolute rot out Evatt. We look less likely to score than I’ve ever seen.

I don't think we're missing effort and despite the scoreline, well on top...Needs a bit of stagecraft...they've seen our area on a map...we should send them the tab for re-seeding across the pitch between 18 & 28 yards...frustrating sums that up...
