The Play-offs.
Figured I'd have a quick peek at our play-off rivals forums. There's an interesting mix, with probably only Barnsley feeling fairly chipper.
Sheff Weds, still having the debate about whether DM has done good enough from game 34 when they had 77 points, 2 games in hand, to finish 3rd, with a squad largely of players that would probably have stayed Champo, without being on the points deduction step...obvs missed out last time round, there's a bit of an air of deja vu...not sure in the round they see themselves as "nailed on" and like us they've been a few key players with long injuries...
Barnsley, again a mix, but because they have no fans, there aren't many comments. Those that are there seem broadly not unhappy that they're likely to play us, feeling like maybe they owe us for Jan. But a couple of "we've been lucky in recent weeks too.
Derby. Strange, they just seem very happy they have a Club and anything up from there just a bonus. We can relate to that, but also set their minds at rest that it doesn't take long to wear off. Like pretty much all and as we've seen on here, a variety of opinions as to whether they're half good or half bad on form...
Posh, for obvious reasons, think they're probably outsiders to make it, so not a great deal of speculation around how they might fare.
Last weekend is quite interesting in that the results for Sheff Weds and Barnsley will determine who Sheff Weds play. I wonder what's be going through their minds...
Wigan forum. I just looked at to laugh...

Re: The Play-offs.
Wednesday have finished with enough points to get promoted on pretty much any other season. I think Darren Moore is a decent manager and for me they are clear favourites to go up. Barnsley are flying and both ourselves and Derby have good managers. We might have a bit more of a squad but that doesn’t necessarily equate to strength in depth!
Shortest odds will be Wednesday v Barnsley at Wembley for good reason.

Re: The Play-offs.
Think that game is a glimmer of hope for posh. Barnsley you'd think would be resting people. Sure Weds won't take any risks, but they won't want to risk Derby beating them and then going straight into playing them twice, so likely to be more on it.
Only realised when I got in that it was a 93rd equaliser that sent Wigan down

Re: The Play-offs.
Last season I fancied Sunderland in the play offs. My gut feel this time is Wednesday will finally get over the line.
It would be pretty funny if they didn’t like. Absolutely brilliant if we did it.
Let’s face it - it’s got to be a big sickener to have 93 points and still miss out on automatics with a whole game to spare. Could have 96 and not go up. Unbelievable Jeff.

Re: The Play-offs.
It’s mad how relentless Plymouth and Ipswich have been - I expected Plymouth to drop off after the keeper got injured, then after we dicked them. If they had got to the play off final I’d fancy the other team against them - fair play.

Yeah me too - fair play.officer_dibble wrote: ↑Sun Apr 30, 2023 9:46 amIt’s mad how relentless Plymouth and Ipswich have been - I expected Plymouth to drop off after the keeper got injured, then after we dicked them. . .
Ipswich might get 100pts, 100goals AND the fewest goals conceded - yet still finish second. Amazing.

Re: The Play-offs.
Aye and as Insano mentioned, Sheff could miss out with 96 points. A figure I suspect we'd have started the promotion party in August with, had we been offered it...

A figure higher even that Stan & Ollie's 2ppg 92-point expectation in summer 2012. Oh so long ago.Worthy4England wrote: ↑Sun Apr 30, 2023 11:36 amAye and as Insano mentioned, Sheff could miss out with 96 points. Re: The Play-offs.
Fairly sure, last year the two automatics were both over 90...Sorta begs the question for me, when we're thinking about summer/contracts, whether we think the current crop has another 10/15 points of "development" in them. But probably not one for this thread.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Sun Apr 30, 2023 11:41 amA figure higher even that Stan & Ollie's 2ppg 92-point expectation in summer 2012. Re: The Play-offs.
I think The Owls realised a few games ago that they'd missed out and the disappointment will have faded. Hat-trick yesterday will have helped. Must be clear favourites, but you never know

It was South Yorkshire rozzers that requested the change, not the EFL. (according to BN)

That’s as well as maybe but this is the third time these dates have changed in recent weeks…Worthy4England wrote: ↑Tue May 02, 2023 8:25 pmIt was South Yorkshire rozzers that requested the change, not the EFL. (according to BN)

I think until fairly recently, Barnsley could have theoretically been caught (just a glance, but 20 April both us and Peterborough could have "mathematically" caught them), so they wouldn't have known for certain...BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Tue May 02, 2023 9:02 pmThat’s as well as maybe but this is the third time these dates have changed in recent weeks…Worthy4England wrote: ↑Tue May 02, 2023 8:25 pmIt was South Yorkshire rozzers that requested the change, not the EFL. True. Ruined the chance for a perfectly nice Saturday afternoon though.Worthy4England wrote: ↑Tue May 02, 2023 10:47 pmI think until fairly recently, Barnsley could have theoretically been caught (just a glance, but 20 April both us and Peterborough could have "mathematically" caught them), so they wouldn't have known for certain...BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Tue May 02, 2023 9:02 pmThat’s as well as maybe but this is the third time these dates have changed in recent weeks…Worthy4England wrote: ↑Tue May 02, 2023 8:25 pmIt was South Yorkshire rozzers that requested the change, not the EFL.
