I notice Nathan Bishop's leaving Yernited.
I'm sure we had an interest previously, or at least there were rumours of an interest, however I don't know if his stock has fallen since then.

Has that been announced, Nicko? He’s up near the top of my list, and far more importantly I think he’ll be high up Evatt’s.nicholaldo wrote: ↑Mon May 22, 2023 10:39 pmI notice Nathan Bishop's leaving Yernited.

Burnden Aces saying lapsing players discover their fate on Tuesday: “ Elias Kachunga, Joel Dixon, Jon Dadi Bodvarsson, Josh Sheehan, as well as three survivors of the League Two promotion team - Kieran Lee, Lloyd Isgrove and MJ Williams - are due to sit down with club officials from this coming Tuesday, where it will be decided whether fresh terms will be offered or, in some cases, confirmation that they will be released in a matter of weeks.”
Someone with less to do than me might watch the players’ Instagrams, Twitters etc… TikTok… Bebo… MySpace… whatevs…

Strange, he's got a decent enough record in L2 and no doubt would be trained in Ten Haag's passing style so there may be some knowledge in terms of how we play. Clearly seen as reasonable backup as he's made Man Utd's bench on a few occassions, but its odd that he didnt get a loan move this season just gone.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Mon May 22, 2023 11:18 pmHas that been announced, Nicko? I think they're back in tomorrow for the first time. Might be 1+1=2 but also might be why they're back in!

I might've jumped the gun.
But his contract expires at the end of next month and there's been no suggestion as of yet that he's about to be offered a new one.

No worries - thought you might have heard something. MU still have two PL games plus the FA Cup final yet.nicholaldo wrote: ↑Tue May 23, 2023 6:48 amI might've jumped the gun.

He nearly did - Wycombe or Exeter, if I recall - but I think Ten Hag was a little light on senior keepers and wanted an extra backup. But then on the summer window deadline day he borrowed Dubravka, and then in January replaced him with Jack Butland. Bishop’s now lost a year but he will, as you say, have had some very good coaching.

Re: Snog, Marry, Avoid: Summer 2023 Transfer Window
I think there was some sort of press around "3 Premier League free agents who Bolton might be interested" in an article. He was one, with the other two being Luke Matheson (Wolves, RWB) and Brad Young (Villa, Striker).Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Tue May 23, 2023 7:31 amNo worries - thought you might have heard something. Matheson the lad who was at Rochdale? I see their thinking.

I'm surprised his deal is expiring. Wolves picked him up for 7 figures and they extended his contract a couple of years ago.
There's that famous photo of him and Morley running off after he scored at Old Trafford, so there are relationships there to call on if there's any basis to it past "Hey, we need some clickbait."
What I would say is he's a wee lad and he's not developed much physically since he joined Wolves, or at least he hadn't when I last heard him discussed.

Was that the tiny lad who Santos absolutely pulverised when we played them a few years back?GhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Tue May 23, 2023 8:54 amThe same.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Tue May 23, 2023 8:21 amMatheson the lad who was at Rochdale? I see their thinking.

Aye. Wolves signed him January 2020 and loaned him back to Dale for the rest of the season.GhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Tue May 23, 2023 9:38 amDon't think so. Pretty sure he left Dale the season before Rico rocked up.
Feb 21: loaned to Ipswich (D3). Played twice.
Aug 21: loaned to Hamilton Academical (Scots D2). Played 11 games.
Jan 22: recaleld from Hamilton, loaned to Keith Hill's 91st-placed Scunthorpe. Played 13.

If transfermarkt is right he's played 135 minutes of PL2 football this season and 35 minutes in the EFL Trophy.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Tue May 23, 2023 8:21 amMatheson the lad who was at Rochdale? I see their thinking.
I mean there could be some fantastic player there for Evatt to uncover but I'd worry about how little football he's played at 20 - and he's a midget.

See previous post. As usual in this thread, mentioning someone isn't a sales pitch, and me writing "I see their thinking" is not an endorsement.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Tue May 23, 2023 9:49 amIf transfermarkt is right he's played 135 minutes of PL2 football this season and 35 minutes in the EFL Trophy.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Tue May 23, 2023 8:21 amMatheson the lad who was at Rochdale? Matheson is one of those where if we signed him I'd think "One for the U23s?"
That might be unfair on the lad, I don't know. When Wolves bought him he was very highly regarded and we can look at our old boy in Barnsley's ranks to see that sometimes lads just need a chance.

I wasn't suggesting you were doing either - just adding to the conversation. TBH it gives me a horrible throw back to Steve McAnespie - midget RWB's always do!Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Tue May 23, 2023 9:56 amSee previous post. Ha! The thing I always remember about McAnespie – apart from how delighted he seemed in the pre-season friendly at Queen of the South when we unveiled his new song, imaginatively re-rendering the Macarena – was seeing him drive a brand-new BMW down Manchester Road. Sounds like nowt now, but this wasn't long after our players had been lucky to drive round in sponsored Ladas, and it was the first real evidence I saw of footballers in the then-fresh Premier League getting paid waaay above average.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Tue May 23, 2023 10:02 amI wasn't suggesting you were doing either - just adding to the conversation. Anyways. I don't mind the odd diddyman if he's good enough. Big and good is generally better, though, so aye – it's a drawback to overcome.

I'll always be grateful we signed him, purely because my son was reading through old team sheets and I'm still not fully over him asking who "Steve Mc Anus Pie" was.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Tue May 23, 2023 10:02 amI wasn't suggesting you were doing either - just adding to the conversation.
