Our favourite Scottish journo is promising 2 names tomorrow. So there will be some speculation for those getting restless.
Bit in the paper? Or come join my Patreon?
Paytreon. So relying on someone breaching the paywall I guess.

I don't follow him. I'll take any speculation, though.

His "pay me for unreliable gossip" model is ridiculous, but I'm playing nurse to an injured cat at the minute and need some filler.

In fairness his record is pretty good. Less so of late but still far in advance of most.

It's the "less so of late" thing that's the issue. Most of his reliable sources have retired or are unemployed, so he's not worth what he was to the papers. Hence patreon, but he's flogging people stuff that's no longer properly sourced.

Hopefully he comes up with two new names that we can all discuss. Whoever will show up in the end will show up, but it'd be fun to have something to chat about.

He’s still well connected. Isn’t getting it straight from the manager anymore or being told when prospective signings are landing at the airport…

We've been added to the long list of possible suitors for Sam Curtis - the 17-yer-old prodigy of a centre back at St.Pats.

There are much, much bigger fish looking at him, so seems an unlikely one; but I don't doubt we will have had a look - along with every other club in the country.

The fact he's apparently good mates with Carty might help, though not enough to stop him going to one of the Manchester clubs if their reputed interest is real.

Nixon two names out there. Brighton keeper James Beadle.

And Coventry right wing back Fankaty Dabo.

Make of that what you will.

Definitely two positions we are looking for. Dabo a super player but I can see that being hotly contested.

Every time I've seen Dabo he's looked shite. But it's not a lot tbf.

Played a lot of championship games. Feels a very Evatt type signing whist also weirdly the exact sort Parky would also have wanted.

If I was to articulate a concern it’s again his end product isn’t as good as I think it could be for all his work down the line. But quick and strong and has an engine.

Know nothing about the keeper but sounds like a risk.

12 men's games, 3 clean sheets, 18 conceded in the other 9 games. Last appearance was a 4-0 loss at Colchester, 89th in the league.

No, doesn't sound very promising at first look. And not the sort of name I expected us to be linked with. If it's firmed up I dare say I'll seeks reasons to be hopeful but GK is an absolutely key position to get right – statistically there's a decent case for saying that with the vast majority of other goalkeepers we wouldn't have made the playoffs. So while I'm not a man given to hyperbole, I think our next goalkeeper could be key to deciding whether Evatt's career is to keep going in the right direction. I genuinely think it's that important.

We do need two keepers - he might be the backup.

Possibly. Ilesy says "It seems likely that the Bolton boss will bring in a younger player on loan, just as he did with James Trafford last season, alongside a more experienced option signed on a permanent basis."

I'm hoping that there will be genuine goalkeeper competition – for the first time under Evatt, and indeed the first time since Howard/Alnwick under Parky.

I don't mind us loaning another hotshot but I'm hoping that the Trafford success allows us to go for "readier" ones, which probably means older. We've seen in every Evatt season that not all young loanees are ready. Beadle is 21 months younger than Trafford, which means he's younger than Traf was when the Cumbrian arrived, and at least Traf had some (dodgy!) third-tier experience.

I want more of a Bradley than a Beck. More of an Amad Diallo than a Joe Hugill. Maybe it's asking a lot but it's a big decision on a huge position at a time when we have a lot of momentum, a lot of pull and a lot of options.

Do you have folks in mind that might have the end product you're thinking of, mate, that might be possibles? I do wonder whether they exist sometimes :-) Oh and you're not allowed to mention the "F" word... :-)

No. It’s my issue with the system. I’d like us to play a 343 at times and sign some wide forwards who would add that extra threat.

Or failing that it’s probably for me looking for what winger or attacking wide player we could convert to a wingback at least on one side.

That's why I asked, because I think you might be disappointed. I reckon we're morely likely to get Bradley/Iredale levels of delivery from wide, than what you're looking for out of 343...

I still reckon he'll look to add in central MF, in the Lee/Shortire area. I'd like us to deliver more variety from wide and I think there's two areas - he who delivers it and he who gets on the end of it, I think if we manage to increase the latter, the former would present as less of a problem.
