In his interview Baxter sounded like he has an old head on relatively young shoulders which is a good thing.

I know from my own experience that shoulder injuries are really hard - often they never fully heal correctly. That’s my main worry.

Agree re: shoulders. I was offered a putti-platt at around 29, after looking at the "recovery" times and the chances of recovery, felt like the better alternative was to leave it dislocating, as it was becoming incrementally easier to relocate it...when the other one went, that was time to stow it all. :-)

Sounds like we're going to need a bigger treatment room ;-)

Strong links to Kane Wilson and Josh Dacres-Cogley (right back currently with the Tramps but on an expiring deal) this morning. The Bristol Post are suggesting Wilson is a done deal, and the JDC rumour comes from Nixon.

Perhaps we've moved on from Dabo if the above are both accurate.

Kane WIlson story is from this report
https://www.bristolpost.co.uk/sport/foo ... er-8535344
which says he's "due for a medical" with us
"With two years remaining on his contract in BS3, City are expected to recoup a six-figure fee for Wilson having paid around £100,000 in compensation when they signed him from Forest Green 12 months ago."

Is this in the camp of "Yes please"?

Would vastly prefer Dabo over players who have only ever done it the league below ours.

This is a year where the ambition is automatic promotion. Signing players who are injury risks and not really done anything outside league two isn’t ‘nailing yourselves on’ in my view.

One of these ok. But two? Not sure.

Will see how they pan out.

According to the article I read, he performed very well in the Championship, but an injury made Brizzle change shape and they happened upon a formula that worked for them and they stuck with it, making him surplus to their requirements.

Bit like us with Afolayan, I suppose

What about if we were after Dabo as well as? I read that JDC can play on the right of a 3 (Gethins position) as well as RWB. Maybe he's the additional centre back that we could be after that ticks a couple of boxes. Dabo and Kane to fight for RWB and JDC can cover there, as well as in the middle. That would mean Randy can fight for LWB with John and Iredale IF John doesn't leave, which I think he will. So in all lots of versatility across the back line with those players.

Wilson absolutely destroyed L2 though. One of those you can tell was much much better. He far outshone Cadden and he's coped just fine up a league. His ceiling is high. Champo at least.

Had a bad-ish injury for Bristol and then couldn't get back in but he's played a decent amount of football. Not sure he's particularly "injury prone"

I'd be very happy with that.

I'd be surprised if we got all three. Plenty other fish to catch.

Wilson was very good for FGR and highly rated. A real Evatt type. Injury is a worry but AFAIK it's just one - I'm more worried by Baxter's various injuries than Wilson's one, and then ostracised by Ostrich Man. I'd be very hopeful if he comes. No signing is guaranteed but he seems (like Baxter) to have headroom. We have to assume these are calculated risks.

Pretty much all the best players on our books at present have never played higher than the level we're currently at. I don't know enough about either Dabo or Wilson, but I wouldn't be so sure that Dabo is the better option just because he's been playing in the Championship.

Dabo has played in a three as well (though according to Cov supporting mate was dreadful there).

Looks a solid enough option as a backup. Can’t fail to be better than the last fella anyway…

I’m so happy it’s all done and that I’m now part of this ambitious club which wants to be back in the Championship and beyond. We were close last season but hopefully we can go one step further and kick on this season.

Being from the area, I know what it means to the fans. I’ve been to quite a few Bolton games and I know what the atmosphere is like, and I want to be part of it. I was born here and so were my little boys so it’s a massive part of my life as well as some of my family and friends supporting Bolton too. To be able to represent Bolton is massive for me and a dream come true.

I’ve played in all four divisions now and you want to be in the top divisions and hopefully I can contribute in any way that I can to get this club into the Championship. I’ve spoken to all the staff and there’s only one aim, there’s no question about it. They want to be in the Championship and after having a good season last season, we want to be looking at automatic promotion this season.

It’s well documented how well James Trafford did last season, as well as the whole defensive unit. If we can get over 20 clean sheets again this season, we’ll be there or thereabouts. I didn’t have a pre-season last season so I’m even more buzzing to have a full pre-season to put us in a good position to start the season.
