One of the lefty centre backs we've previously looked at, Kelland Watts, may be on the move. Wigan want him back at the DW.

It may be worth just making a note of who goes where for a bit.

Evatt calls for calm.

https://www.theboltonnews.co.uk/sport/2 ... ence-plea/

“We know where we are light and where we need to recruit. It is a tough job and it takes time. To get the level of player we want you have to be very, very patient.

“As I have said before we have kind of moved past the free transfer market now, which means there is not only negotiations to be had with the player and their representation, but also the selling club. And with that there is a domino effect, they need replacements and that takes more time.

“I think come the start of the season we will be ready.

“It is very much a different type of recruitment and have already had a few snags this summer, that’s the nature of the beast, things happen that you don’t expect.

“We have to be strong enough to move on and go to the next target. Chris (Markham) and his team have done incredible work and we know exactly what positions we want to fill and what both players look like.

“So, all I need now is some patience from everyone to get the right ones in.”

"Both" is an interesting choice of word.

I think most of us feel we need at least 3.

"Both" plus talking about waiting for January to sign technicians is more concerning than any of the previous nonsense.

Is there any kind of protective incantation we can say over Dempsey's hamstrings?

I'm reckoning the world will melt if our next signing isn't RWB of Midfield. :-)

Where does it say 'both players' and 'technicians in January' or have I read the wrong link ?

DSB's quote says "...we know what both players look like."

Evatt gave a separate interview where he said we'd probably be looking at foreign markets in January for technical players.

The article doesn’t say ‘both players’ far as I can see.

It reads to me 'and we know exactly what positions we want to fill and what those players look like'.

No, it doesn't and I did wonder why I'd not noticed it when I listened. I was going off DSB's quote.

Pleased to be corrected.

Yes, you're quite right. I was going off the quotes DSB provided.

Seems like it’s pretty much done and dusted with Pete O’Rourke tweeting it

Rumour is he's got a 3 year deal, good luck to the lad.

I love MJ, but this is a good move for all parties. His deal renewed automatically and we'd maybe not have kept him on if given the choice, as we discussed at the time.

Hopefully it means we have something lined up.

He’s the only player we have with any presence in midfield. I’d be pretty unhappy if we let him go without a similar type to come in - hopefully a more mobile type. In fact I think it would be pretty foolish to do so. If we have to wait for others to have replacements ready then I don’t see why we would be so accommodating unless we had ours ready to go.

I disagree, MJ leaving doesn't weaken us at all IMO - and this will be a sign that things are moving, we will bring in a better quality replacement. This move makes sense for all parties.

A more mobile MJ really isn't the answer. MJ is basically a centre back who adapted to play as a midfield ball-winner. We are already playing 3 centre backs, so another one in midfield is just holding us back.

We need to sign someone who is combative and mobile, I agree with that much; but they have to be able to go forward with quality. That player looks nothing like MJ Williams.

I'm not sure it makes much sense to keep any player who wants to leave and it read like he'd triggered the extension rather than us...Not sure I'd want someone in camp where I'd knowingly denied them a three year deal vs the one year extension we weren't going to offer them...
