Re: Snog, Marry, Avoid: Summer 2023 Transfer Window
That's worth keeping an eye on.
We seem to be maxing out at around £300k per position, which would put us out of that race if Carlisle get close to their "minimum" valuation of half a mil.
I stand by my assessment that he's precisely what we need, but I could accept if Evatt felt he wasn't quick enough over 10 yards - as that's the major weakness in his game.
If he moves within League One for less than £500k I'll be cursing, though.

Ah, I was just joking about this current window, Mar, not in general.Mar wrote: ↑Mon Jul 24, 2023 11:09 pmTANGODANCER wrote: ↑Mon Jul 24, 2023 10:58 pmMy only real worry now is seeing the words "Bolton supporter" and " happy" in the same posts. Just don't seem right..![]()

We certainly look to be making progress towards a happy Bolton Supporter. Certainly managed that against Plymouth.

I think good Sir may be underestimating our indefatigable ability to be happy moaning.TANGODANCER wrote: ↑Tue Jul 25, 2023 10:33 amAh, I was just joking about this current window, Mar, not in general.Mar wrote: ↑Mon Jul 24, 2023 11:09 pmTANGODANCER wrote: ↑Mon Jul 24, 2023 10:58 pmMy only real worry now is seeing the words "Bolton supporter" and " happy" in the same posts. Looks like the Moxon thing is unfolding essentially as expected.
Clubs want to try and test things out with bids around £250k. Carlisle imagine offers closer to seven figures, but won't get close without a bidding war. Minimum sale price will be around £500k, if they can't generate more interest.
Nixon is apparently reporting Carlisle are demanding fresh bids hit at around £900k, which seems unlikely for now.
Anyone who has him as a priority target will have seven figures set aside for it and wait to see what happens.

Any indication we've expressed an interest?

This.
We were credit with interest last season, but I've not heard anything about in this summer.
I'd not be surprised if we jumped in were the price to be well below what Carlisle are demanding right now, but if they get anywhere close it's too rich for our blood. Hard to see who would pay it right now, but Carlisle believe there's enough interest to justify it so

More from the round-up of potential big-club youngsters, almost all now out of their teens. Sounds like a Patino decision is imminent; although we may be lucky to be in that shake-up, it's the sort of "next year up" signing I might expect us to make.
SOUTHAMPTON
• Caleb Watts (16.1.02) Essex-born Aussie international 8-or-10 who was at Morecambe last season. Released in summer.
• Dynel Simeu (13.3.02) 6ft1 ball-playing centre-back I've mentioned before during loans at Carlisle, Tranmere and Morecambe.
ARSENAL
• Ryan Alebiosu (17.12.01) attacking right-back who made 29 appearances for Kilmarnock last season after previous loan at Crewe. Said to be interesting QPR & Rotherham.
• Charlie Patino (17.10.03) Still a teen until October, but the midfielder is worth mentioning here for a few reasons. For a kick-off, he played for Arsenal's U18s at 14. He played 37 times for second-tier Blackpool last season, at number 6, 8 and 10. And he's now said he wants to leave this summer for first-team football, with Arsenal thought to want a buy-back clause. Watford-born with a Spanish dad, he's been compared to Frankie de Jong and will be hoping for Champo interest - but if Evatt and Markham could sell him the "project..."
• Tim Akinola (8.5.01) Nigerian central midfielder loaned to Chesterfield last season. Did well enough that West Brom, Oxford and Gillingham have been linked this summer.
• Tyreece John-Jules (14.2.01) 6ft striker whose latest loan was at Ipswich (following Lincoln, Donny, Blackpool and Wednesday). Told a podcast this year that the loans weren't working out for him but I doubt Arteta's arsed. Now in final year of contract so could be a moneyball possibility. Or not.

Re: Snog, Marry, Avoid: Summer 2023 Transfer Window
Season's squad numbers revealed.
. .
Big snub for Declan John to be hoofed out of 3 for Jack Iredale. See also Sadlier, cleared from 7 for CMG.
Changes:
• Baxter takes 1, which has been open since Gilks retired last summer
• Iredale takes 3 from John, who moves out to 25 (formerly Thomason)
• Thomason takes 4 (was MJ)
• CMG takes 7 from Sadlier, who floats out to 29
• Dacres-Cogley takes 12 (was Dixon)
• Coleman takes 13 (last used by Fossey)
• Adeboyejo comes in to 14 (was Iredale) from 29
• Forrester takes 15 (was Aimson)
• 17 (Shoretire), 19 (Traf), 20 (Lee) and 21 (Bradley) still open. 17 should be a creative, 19 should be a striker. That's how it works (shurrup Traf)

Yep some interesting numbering going on there.
Always wondered , and I can't find the answer, can an outfield player wear number one or is it exclusively reserved for keepers.

Big vote of confidence for Tommo.

Anyone know how many "grown up" squad gaps we still have?

Ossie Ardilles in the 82 world cup is the only time I can recall an outfield player wearing no1.truewhite15 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 25, 2023 6:37 pmThey CAN. They bloody well shouldn't though.knobpolisher wrote: ↑Tue Jul 25, 2023 6:26 pmYep some interesting numbering going on there.

There was a guy at Charlton. Also I think Davids did it when he was player-manager at Barnet.Harry Genshaw wrote: ↑Tue Jul 25, 2023 10:17 pmOssie Ardilles in the 82 world cup is the only time I can recall an outfield player wearing no1.

Evatt: “I do think we will be active in the transfer market right up until deadline day. We don’t necessarily have to do all our business for the very first game, but we have a clear plan of what we want and what we need. We will see how that develops through August.”

^^ Ohhhh, the thought of pressing "refresh" lots on deadline day, only to finally land one at 22:55 and sit there thinking "who?"
Re: Snog, Marry, Avoid: Summer 2023 Transfer Window
Do we think John is off? He wasn’t in the squad last night; was he injured? Plus the shirt number demotion must sting just a little.
