Re: General Chit Chat
I never accepted this Greater Manchester business. I was born in Lancashire. Actually I'm not sure where the boundary is. I was born in Lostock and our house near the top of Princess Road was actually served by Horwich Urban District Council. Is Horwich in Lancashire or Greater Manchester?TANGODANCER wrote: ↑Thu Sep 21, 2023 1:35 pmUniversity of Greater Manchester ??? Get off it.

GM, the "border" is between Horwich and Adlington/Blackrod.

Mugdock steps down, calls out the problem with "elites" which I guess he's trying to intimate, like Farage and Trump do, that "eliteism" is somewhere they're not...I mean no one spot the problem with criticiding mainstream media & watching Fox News?

I checked. Alas, Lostock and Horwich are entirely within Greater Manchester.

Not at all enthralled by our Royal family's current public behaviour. Fine example being shown particularly by Harry and wife. "Silence is golden" was never more relevant as dignified behaviour. Time for our sovereign to have a quiet word, methinks.

They're no longer Royals. And the Royal Family is well past its sell-by-date. Should have disbanded after QEII died.

Pretty much, TD. It's nonsense.
Sunak pointed to the £17bn it costs the NHS for smoking related diseases. Made up number, and in no way, is it netted off against the actual tax take for tobacco.
It's bollocks.

Not to mention nobody knows what the long term consequences are of pushing the entire population onto vapes.Worthy4England wrote: ↑Thu Oct 05, 2023 11:54 pmPretty much, TD. It's nonsense.

I mean I broadly agree with the policy - it’s happening elsewhere and there is broad support amongst the British public. It’s about the only thing to come out of that Tory conference that makes any sense.
But I’d like to see more evidence on what happens afterwards before they went full steam ahead.
Re: General Chit Chat
"entire population" lol. They're obviously better than smoking, wherever they are.
Penny Morduant doing an ASMR reading of Braveheart at the same time they announce plans to legislate so that in 30 years a 44 year old won't be able to buy tabs.

Pity they were born in June and that mate from class is now 45...
I'm still waiting for the resurgence in the great British pubs that was going to happen, if only people didn't smoke in 'em.
All I can say as I move towards my next birthday is "You'll never take me alive, Sunak"

Re: General Chit Chat
I meant entire smoking population obvs….
And they are better than smoking but nobody knows the long term impacts really and it feels like it would be a sort of ‘state sanctioned’ thing in the light of this policy. Not that I disagree with it generally…I’m just more cautious on vaping as it’s been pushed as this ultra safe thing when it probably isn’t. It’s preferable to smoking but that’s not enough….
