I think £1m would do it, as long as we had a suitable replacement lined up. Seems very unlikely anyone would be offering more than that.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Tue Jan 23, 2024 12:56 pmThat’s… interesting.GhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Tue Jan 23, 2024 12:07 pmFootball Insider is reporting that Vic is a target for "overseas clubs."
Make of that what you will.
I wonder how much of a fee various folk on here would accept. Not long since some would have offered to drive him there (presumably through the Channel Tunnel). And we are a trading club. But not one bursting with strikers who strike.

Yeah I think that FI account is one the ones that just makes stuff up. For whatever reason I dunno!GhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Tue Jan 23, 2024 12:57 pmEntirely possible.
A lot of folk on social media seem thrilled at the idea of breaking up the best strike partnership in the division with a week left in the window.
Takes all sorts![]()
I would sell him at the right price, with a replacement lined up.

Despite the wank name, Football Insider is far from the least reliable. You can (and I do) check veracity by looking at stories from previous windows.
But of course some stories it runs could just be smoke and mirrors - or things that change.

You might know more about this chap, DSB, but Pete O'Rourke does seem to get a lot of things right.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Tue Jan 23, 2024 1:18 pmDespite the wank name, Football Insider is far from the least reliable. I think it’s me mixing it up with another. Should check before I post (some irony there).Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Tue Jan 23, 2024 1:18 pmDespite the wank name, Football Insider is far from the least reliable. You can (and I do) check veracity by looking at stories from previous windows.

Weird things happen in football, but I can't see us selling Vic for £1m.
His market value when we bought him was about that and he's worth considerably more now.
We got him cheap due to a release clause. Unless he has another clause now (I don't think he does) then it'll take more than that to prise him away.
Thommo was a squad player for whom a fee represented almost pure profit. Vic is first choice and we have invested in him. Plus we're on a title chase and he's a striker.
£1m doesn't touch the sides.

He doesn't just make stuff up, certainly. DSB will know better than anyone on here, but Peter has a good rep in the industry.
The story itself could be wrong, but it will come from sources.

Yeah PO’R is good. Not, unlike some, a random story generator.

£3m+ plus a replacement lined up for me.
We're set up to make goals for Dion and he's still chipped in with a decent number. Only one player who isn't their team's top scorer has scored (one) more than him, and he's just gone to money bags Derby.

Nice in a way that you’d go with Vic - but if you’re part of the deal, then for me it’s off. You’re irreplaceable.

Ha! If interest from abroad means Saudi I might be tempted to do a Henderson, take the cash and then slope back here in 6 months.

£3m for Vic wouldn't be far off getting £6m for Madine. I think we'd all be ecstatic with that, but seems unlikely in the extreme.

I don't want to be too obvious, but wouldn't £3m be just around 50% of the £6m we got for Madine?

I think that was trying to alleviate our concerns over Dapo going. It worked to some extent, and then the realisation set in that Shoretire was nowhere near the same level.Worthy4England wrote: ↑Tue Jan 23, 2024 1:07 pmLast time I recall he was this upbeat, Shola turned up!![]()

In fairness to our coaching staff, Utd feel the move benefitted the player - even if we'd have liked more impact.
He's had some injuries this season, but when he's played he's looked a lot more mature.
I believe Ten Hag gave an interview recently praising his development, so we've done ourselves no harm.

Jokey tweet but several of the responses claim Bristol Rovers are forced to play this keeper under the terms of his loan deal with Brentford.
So yeah.
So yeah.
