Agh come on Josh. Revenge is sweet and all that, but swapping clubs to play against us.....GhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Thu Jan 25, 2024 4:20 pm
In other news, Carlisle just signed Josh Vela. So that clearly means we're picking up Owen Moxon...

Did Oxo ever sign a contract? If not he’s up in summer and could be this winter’s Demps/Morley signing…GhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Thu Jan 25, 2024 4:20 pm

No. He just turned down their final offer and is apparently set to try his luck as a free agent in the summer.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Thu Jan 25, 2024 4:49 pmDid Oxo ever sign a contract? If not he’s up in summer and could be this winter’s Demps/Morley signing…

I don’t think Moxon has signed a deal so sounds possible.
Iles says we are hopeful of one by Saturday and working on three deals for next week.
I hope to god there are some proper (pacy) wing backs in this lot.

Dempsey injury described as not serious. (This is no time for jokes, etc.) Not quite clear if he’s available to be berated by his fellow Cumbrians on Saturday.
Oh and Ian says we’re working hard to learn how to deal with what he describes as the 523 press. Think that’s the bus I used to catch up Bury Road…

Sounds like one is physically in the building (though we saw how that worked out for a couple in the summer) and the three other deals are still being hammered out.
We've 7 full days to get business done, but we could really use as many as possible done for Blackpool - which would mean a Monday noon deadline.
It's good news that Dempsey is fit. That was a serious worry.

Missed that. In which of the sacred scrolls was it written?Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Thu Jan 25, 2024 5:10 pmOh and Ian says we’re working hard to learn how to deal with what he describes as the 523 press.

I'm unsure where "Transfer Centre" falls on the reliable to random story generator spectrum (possibly towards the latter) but they're reporting we're interested in signing one of Ghost's reccos.

Never mind, found it in The Gospel of Marc.GhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Thu Jan 25, 2024 5:15 pmMissed that. In which of the sacred scrolls was it written?Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Thu Jan 25, 2024 5:10 pmOh and Ian says we’re working hard to learn how to deal with what he describes as the 523 press.
It's good that he's identified the issue. Vic was running rotations against Cheltenham, which worked to a degree; but there's a lot more to be done.
That use of the spare man to pin the wide centre backs needs a solution, probably from the free man it creates in midfield. Dempsey saw the space, but Paris didn't.
Ultimately it's personnel that'll help crack those sides. Specifically those tricky wide players.

Would take that with enough salt to make an American cup of tea, to be honest. Looks disreputable, as much as I'd like it to have substance.nicholaldo wrote: ↑Thu Jan 25, 2024 5:21 pmI'm unsure where "Transfer Centre" falls on the reliable to random story generator spectrum (possibly towards the latter) but they're reporting we're interested in signing one of Ghost's reccos.

Can't say i'm overly thrilled at watching Josh Vela kick our players again. Carlisle did a number on us earlier in the season so we owe them one, and Vela's just made it that much more of a tougher prospect.
Moxon would be an interesting signing. Likely to be on a free or nearly there. Maybe this is the domino effect in play. Moxon say's he'll not sign a new contract, Carlisle look to cash in and get a replacement, we pick him up on the cheap rather than the free at the end of the season, which allows Carlisle to sign Vela prior to letting him go.

It's sounding more positive than one, maybe two from the beginning of the transfer window!

I would love Santos to stick one on him early. Petulant prick.Mar wrote: ↑Thu Jan 25, 2024 5:37 pmCan't say i'm overly thrilled at watching Josh Vela kick our players again. Plays against us as it's our fault his career has gone the way it has, my bet is the pies, ale and training might have something to do with it.

Seems a bit of a low figure unless Reading want his wages off the books?

Azeez is out of contract in summer.TANGODANCER wrote: ↑Thu Jan 25, 2024 6:18 pmSeems a bit of a low figure unless Reading want his wages off the books?
Sadly, a quick flick through TC9’s history reveals more misses than Larry King.
Re: Who opened the door? My money is on Janus! 2024 January transfer thread.
Moxon would seem a weird one to do now. Doesn’t play a position we desperately need to strengthen, is 26 with only half a season playing at third tier level, and will be available for free in the summer when we’ll know what division we’re preparing for.

I’m not sure it would be that odd - we’ve bought people running down contracts before to avoid a bidding war in the summer.

I dunno - if Evatt wants him and that’s an unknown if, but if he does I imagine we’d try a low bid to get him now. Take £100K now or nowt in summer sort of thing.
I don’t think he’s what we need tbh and feel that with signing Morley again it would be two similar players. But stranger things have happened.
