Re: Tonight's Football
Especially when Foden on the left is contingent on a superb left footed full back or heavy midfield rotation and we have neither.
Bellingham looks every bit the partner for rice to me. No idea what we are playing him as a 10 for when it means Trent playing.
Re: Tonight's Football
I'd agree with that, need Shaw back in as the 'balance' of the team wasn't quite right tonight. Trippier doesn't offer that outlet at LWBBWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Sun Jun 16, 2024 11:02 pmEspecially when Foden on the left is contingent on a superb left footed full back or heavy midfield rotation and we have neither.

Don't knock the system. It's infallible. P1 W1..What could possibly be wrong?
Re: Tonight's Football
One dimensional, snail pace, lightweight, no movement, centre forward playing central midfield. The Germans or another top team would rip us a new one.. Ain't going to win this.
Re: Tonight's Football
Yep, at least there isn't a tried and tested left back sat at home twiddling his thumbs...BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Sun Jun 16, 2024 11:02 pmEspecially when Foden on the left is contingent on a superb left footed full back or heavy midfield rotation and we have neither.

I think if all you want is the best out of Bellingham, his best position is playing with that freedom. But he's also a fantastic 8, and Foden's best position is centrally. When you're not going to have 70% position there's no point playing him wide. All the rumours are Gordon has been excellent in training too. Far more at home wide, and that directness you need internationally (see Saka for the goal). Gordon for Trent, job done!
On the positives, I was worried about Guehi but thought he was excellent last night

Re: Tonight's Football
At the risk of repetition, football as we knew it is no more, Cheating, fouling, play-acting and blatant savagery have replaced the beautiful game completely. The answer lies in the rules and referees manual. Deny it if you will, but tactics and game plans mean little when faced with teams who have learned what they can get away with better than us. Funnily enough, as proven last night, just playing good football is often better than scrag-ball. We need to be less arrogant and learn from Germany, France, Italy and
Spain, maybe even Serbia and Switzerland. 66 was a long time ago. We just ain't tough enough and we haven't moved on. .
Good defending is only any use when you are ahead. If we hadn't scored early last night we may well have lost. Bellingham's goal and Harry's tough luck in hitting the bar, were both headers. Shots on goal were scarcer than Welsh shamrock. Last night was actually a must win if we're entertaining dreams of fame and fortune. Berlin is a bit like Narnia right now.

Austria v France
Far and away the best game of the competition so far, a real good watch.

Agreed. Either of them could have won it. I'm loving the fact that good football is no longer confined to half-a-dozen teams. I think it will help our own cause in the draws that standards of the international game has improved so much. The refs association still need to get a grip of the rules though.

What an absolute cracker of a game of football. Portugal score a second in he second minute of extra time to beat the Czechs 2-1.
Most enjoyable game for ages.

Re: Tonight's Football
Scotland finally turned up last night and I think it's a shame they didn't win.
They need to ditch the English peeing about at the back though, there was movement in front for receiving the ball, they just didn't capitalise on it.

I'm pretty sure random woman compared them to Spain. Oh and the cat strangling bastards can stick them where the sun don't shine. Has the Swiss guy that scored their goal just become their joint-top tourney scorer?boltonboris wrote: ↑Thu Jun 20, 2024 11:32 amThey had a couple of good spells, but I don’t know what the Beeb were watching. Re: Tonight's Football
What a crock of!
Stroll about, sit deep, invite the Danes in.
Rice? No sod it just give me curry!
More exciting I suspect watching Katie Price on her only fans site
