Poor, slow first. Half show
Better second half with a bit more go.
Said I didn't rate Gallagher, last night proved the point, oh, and didn't realise Bellingham was on the pitch until commentary mentioned him maybe once. He is the weak link at the moment, to me, he looks knackered.
We have our work cut out.

Re: Tonight's Football
Denmark played well but didn't take their chances; Germany played better and did., and won 2-0. Pretty predictable and it'll take a very good side to beat them. The thunder and lightening plus downpours and causing a postponement was different.
Si Deus pro nobis, quis contra nos?
Re: Tonight's Football
Both teams passed and moved at speed, something we seem incapable of doing and the long ball over the top by the Germans would destroy us.

Re: Tonight's Football
Full agreement Hobes unless we do something different. If we leave space at the back for the long ball it's Usain Bolt v Peter Kay. I'm for Galagher because he loves to attack defences, but Harry Kane would be up against a class German defence defence . Maybe Grealish could weave a way through, but Hope is still our main reliance. We really do need to take a chance losing possession (not having much effect anyway) and shoot on sight occasionally.
Give it the leather (or whatever magic material our boots are made of these days). It's a long time since knock in studs and two yards of laces ruled the roost. Oliver Khan picking the ball out of the net five times is as fond in English folk lore as Robin Hood,
but both were long ago. Keep the Faith...

Urgh. Same formation, same players (Mainoo excepted) and presumably same performance. They've had a good 10 days to get it sorted.
I like Southgate, but this just seems like its a case of history repeating itself.
I'm dreading another Iceland result. Not confident at all with this side. We have the players but we need the effort and mentality to go with it.

Re: Tonight's Football
I’ve watched England for decades and our fortunes have often seemed to ride on injuries, but not usually to a left-back. That’s poor planning. Not changing what isn’t working? Also poor.
Still think we win today but we won’t go much farther.

feck me. This is proper shite.
Re: Tonight's Football
Fk off Southgate. Setup the same way as the times we've lost and clearly shows the opposition how play and beat us.
Weve practically handed the opposition the tactics to beat us.
Learn the lesson Southgate jeez

The back four and Rice. Never in a million, zillion years international footballers. Say whatever you like. 1990’s lot light years above these. Butcher better than any of these absolute non entities.
Re: Tonight's Football
Slovakia have a block of six pressing that we can't get past and are trying to get past by playing from the back. Not gonna work unless something gets changed.
Re: Tonight's Football
When we force the mistake or force their clearance we take an age to counter allowing that 6 to settle in their press.

Re: Tonight's Football
C'mon chaps we must be over 70% posession by now!
Re: Tonight's Football
The slow play at the back is giving me PTSD. Evattball at its worst.
Re: Tonight's Football
If only there was an award for that. Only thing were likely to win with this lot.
Foden coming in constantly just seems to close down the pitch and make it easier for Slovakia. Surely going wide opens the gap for the othe midfielders.
