£900k is the rumour.Harry Genshaw wrote: ↑Tue Jul 02, 2024 7:27 pmWord going around that our increased offer for Randall has been accepted.
Is he worth this? I genuinely have no idea.

I'd be quite surprised to see us sign someone whilst they're away in Portugal. Any announcements are surely likely after they come back.
B team signings on the other hand might be more likely.
Does anyone know if we're playing any friendlies over in Portugal whilst they're over there? (behind closed doors i'd suspect)

Re: Tooling up: The summer 2024 transfer thread
Randall looked decent last season but I’d be pretty worried to spend a million quid or close to it on a player who has barely been tested in league football yet.
Under 100 league games played and 32 of those were league two. In effect one really decent season at this level.
I get there are obvious players you want at that sort of age with this sort of experience profile - because they look too good to ignore….Im just not convinced he is in that bracket and then it comes down to whether last season was a flash in the pan or a sign of things to come.
I wouldn’t oppose his signing generally…it’s just the amount of money that’s being talked about.

I think we're down to some "market forces" here mate - you get what you get for what you spend v the market. It would probably cost us a shitload more to get someone with 200 games and a couple of seasons in the champo at the same age...so you tend to grab someone a chunk older that's maybe on the way down and little prospect of a return on investment.

Never really heard of him. Watched him as Peterborough resolutely failed to break down Oxford in the semis, so he should fit right in.

Isn’t his contract up next summer? Making a loan unlikely?

Aye, as far as we're aware. Would they rate him as lowly as £900,000?officer_dibble wrote: ↑Wed Jul 03, 2024 3:32 pmIsn’t his contract up next summer? Making a loan unlikely?

Re: Tooling up: The summer 2024 transfer thread
I have no idea - I’ve seen talk Alfie May is on nearly £20k p/w which for a div 3 player seems mental.
I also still see people asking us to sign players on ‘pay as you play’ which is other end of the spectrum mental.
I’m guessing Brentford may gamble on a fee now with a decent sell on, rather than lose for nowt? But where that fee should sit I don’t know. He did look good from October onwards and for me was in the mix for player of the year - he does stuff, he makes things happen. He isn’t just a backwards and a sideways man.

Afternoon, Wanderers. I hope you’re all enjoying splendid summers.
I’ve been fairly successfully ignoring Bolton news during the Euros, and intend to continue doing so for the remainder of the tournament.
That said, have there been any rumours regarding out-goings? I would’ve thought a few of our players, and their agents, might want to jump ship rather than play another season in Div 3.

If we are spending 1M quid then Maghoma is a better bet than Randall imho.
But we still desperately need that midfield ratter - we can’t have another season without a monster in there when it’s needed.

Might just be Evatt and the club seeking him out as a player and then telling him he's irreplaceable and we'd like to keep him. You know boost his ego and all in the negotiations.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Wed Jul 03, 2024 2:50 pmParis tweets this, thousands of Bolton fans dare to dream.
Either way, sounds positive and would be nice to see him back.

Blimey. Looks like we might have pulled it off…Randall was the distraction then.

I hope for your sake and ours this isn't just because a WUM account pretending to be an agent has posted a picture of the Eiffel Towerofficer_dibble wrote: ↑Thu Jul 04, 2024 10:58 amBlimey. Looks like we might have pulled it off…Randall was the distraction then.

Re: Tooling up: The summer 2024 transfer thread
I like Maghoma a lot but where is the improvement we need coming from? We know that this season will be harder so not only do we need to be better on absolute terms on last season but also relatively.
Spending money on Maghoma I have no issue with but I’d seriously hope there is plenty left over because if we don’t recruit the quality out wide we need then the rest is pointless. And we still need a dominant midfield player.
