Season long loan - which makes sense. Was with Crainey at Fleetwood and I believe Evatt has tried to sign him before.

Box to box type. Carries the ball. Someone with more insight might offer a different view but what I’ve seen he’s a bit like a league one Kante (when on form).dave the minion wrote: ↑Thu Aug 08, 2024 12:10 pmdon't know much about him - what is he - 6? 8? Somewhere in between (7?). Maghoma replacement?

Exactly how I just described him to my son.

Excellent - not had one of them for a while!
Re: Tooling up: The summer 2024 transfer thread
I’d be pretty surprised if we could get more than double what we paid for Collins.GhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Thu Aug 08, 2024 11:23 amMore, in the current market.
2 years on his deal and a player our fans massively underrate; but who Evatt loves.
We absolutely will not want to sell him, so any team that wants him will be paying a premium.

Re: Tooling up: The summer 2024 transfer thread
With us playing two #6s he's spot on. He can carry the ball through the press and will tackle anything that moves.
Also worth remembering he's younger than Thomason. If there's a release in that loan contract he could be a long term solution for us in the middle.

An overage player on loan is surprising. This seems to point to at least one departure.

Only issue with Matete is he’s not been the same player he was at Fleetwood for me where he was the best midfield player in the league imho.
Type wise though he’s ideal and the loan has mitigated the risk.

Yes, it does.
Though I'm starting to wonder if Dempsey's injury is worse than initially thought.
Either way, we're hitting the point now where we can't register everyone.

Re: Tooling up: The summer 2024 transfer thread
Jones potentially out for longer than imagined? Forrester might be loaned out? From the interview (as much as I could stand of it) Evatt seemed pretty clear he didn’t expect the big names to be leaving as they all wanted to stay and we didn’t need the money. Obviously an insane bid changes that. But I’d say it’s more likely we trim round the edges.GhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Thu Aug 08, 2024 12:24 pmYes, it does.

What Matete does do is remove the Sheehan point of failure.
If JOT and McAtee show up shortly then we no longer have one.
It'll just be a case of whether we can add that final dribbly #10 to really elevate our attacking options.

I was screaming for us to sign Matete a couple of years back when Plymouth got him. Struggled for them to be fair.

There are games where Thomason and Matete would add huge amounts in there against teams we need to scrap a midfield battle against. But also lets us rest George at times.GhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Thu Aug 08, 2024 12:28 pmWhat Matete does do is remove the Sheehan point of failure.

In other news, I'm marginally less worried about our bench for Saturday.

Superb signing if we get the player from a couple of seasons ago. Exactly what we need.

Yes good signing this, exactly the type of combative, box to box midfielder we need.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Thu Aug 08, 2024 12:13 pmBox to box type. Carries the ball. Think this is the account that broke the Schön news (and possibly Horsey-Tutu)

Well things seem to be happening pretty quickly and coming thick and fast. No-one can say that the board have not supported Evatt. On the flip side this has to be the season we go up.
