I think we could do with a Dembele type tbh. But I suspect we are done now for this window bar maybe an underage prem loan.

We are already over the squad size limit. We have areas where it feels like some players as it is won’t get playtime.

And there aren’t many round like Dembele who ultimately and unsurprisingly fell well outside our sort of budget.

It would be good to add one but my suspicion is it would be wait to see how it goes till January now unless a loan comes up.

I think a promising underage loan signing that's happy with b team football might be the way forward.

The likes of Shoretire would've fit the bill I'd imagine, just not Shoretire. Someone not expected to go into the first team but someone the loaning club would be happy to cash in on if it went well.

Aside from that the squad seems capable as is. Right back maybe an issue but we've got Matheson there for backup and CMG come second half of the season

Matheson is off on loan.

Why do you feel we've got an issue on the right, with both Tutu and Cogley there?

Nathan Baxter emerges as a transfer target for Plymouth, if they can't keep teams away from Cooper.

Makes sense. The signing of Southwood suggests the club might have suspected Baxter would be off this window.

Surely we'd be mental to let him go though? We can't be getting much as his contract is out at the end of the season.

His market value is less than his worth to us, you'd expect. Hopefully he wants to stay.

To listen to him at the end of the game you would assume, almost a we owe it to the fans etc.

He obviously thinks that we'd have gone up were he fit all season.

I suppose it's too much to hope for that this triggers a discussion with the player that ends with him signing on.

The trouble we have right now is that Evatt might not be here next season, so what are they signing up to if they sign a multi-year deal? Signing up last season seemed a much more certain thing and he didn't extend then.

I don't expect him to sign a new deal more finish the one he's on and go from there.

From what Evatt has said there is no pressure to sell players. If massive offers come in that changes it. But you can do a lot with massive offers. I’m not worried about it because the club is clearly investing to go up. They aren’t going to undermine that by selling players under value and leaving us short.

I'd expect him to stay, personally.

Plymouth aren't pushing for promotion and he wants the Prem. It's to his advantage to sit on his deal and look at his options in the summer.

The club has done what it can to cover. Southwood was an excellent addition and if he leaves it'll be for money that lets us go into the market.

I'd hate to see him go, but I'm comfortable with where we stand. He's certainly not the sort to have a wobble because of transfer rumours.

If Plymouth get a load of cash for their keeper then maybe they offer us more than market value for Baxter. Every player has their price, especially when they’re in the last year of their contract.

Yes. Then it's about Nathan. We won't force him out, but we also won't stop him.

I had exoected Baxter to leave when we imissed out on promotion. Credit to him, he announced early that he was staying but we all know his ambition to playt the very top. The club prepared itself for his going by signing a top keeper who I am sure did not come here to be out of matchday squad each week. Hope we get big money for Baxter. Evatt is pushing his value up based on his comments after yesterdays game. I expect him to go now rather than we lose him for nothing end of season.

Gotta admit I hadn't considered Tutu when I wrote it. Figured the main thing was strength in depth and I'd seen Jones and CMG out.

Obviously JDC is the standout player but he was consistently put out without getting time to relax so there's and argument for mental strain rather than physical strain going on with that many games. Figured extra body would help with strength in depth.

JDC was signed to be the supporting act to Wilson, who didn't come. Tutu is the Wilson replacement, I think.

JDC still has a key role here, but he showed yesterday his failings as well as his strengths. He gave the ball away a lot and he couldn't beat a fullback if you gave him a stick.

Both flanks look pretty good at the minute, bar fitness concerns. Something we've not been able to say at any time up until now.

Dom Ballard is the latest link from everyone's favourite new ITK twitter account.

His name cropped up earlier in the window too, but Saints were adamant he do preseason with them.

Us and Reading the named parties.

Primarily a striker, but able to play wide and at #10. Some ball-carrying ability, but mainly known for his work rate and variety of finishes at youth level.

Born in 2005 so wouldn't count against the squad cap – unlike, say, Big Dan, the curiously chosen "fourth most likely forward substitute" at Orient
