Re: Tooling up: The summer 2024 transfer thread
Dan was brought in needing regular football to develop and missed nearly the entire season with injury.
It makes sense if all parties think he has to play regularly this season.

Dempsey was brought on as part of the front 3 instead of Dan at the weekend. I think he has to be out of here, might have already mentioned it!

Apparently Dan Toney is still part of Evatt's plans according to the BN

Where are you seeing that, Bert?Bertie Wooster wrote: ↑Tue Aug 20, 2024 7:38 pmApparently Dan Toney is still part of Evatt's plans according to the BEN\

We don't tend to give up on players, especially when we've spent money.Bertie Wooster wrote: ↑Tue Aug 20, 2024 7:38 pmApparently Dan Toney is still part of Evatt's plans according to the BN
Will be interesting to see what goes on.
He has got to play football, whether here or somewhere else.
Re: Tooling up: The summer 2024 transfer thread
Perhaps the deal to sign him had been done prior to him coming on loan and it was a case of financial wizardry to balance the books.GhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Tue Aug 20, 2024 10:51 pmWe don't tend to give up on players, especially when we've spent money.Bertie Wooster wrote: ↑Tue Aug 20, 2024 7:38 pmApparently Dan Toney is still part of Evatt's plans according to the BN

There's nothing in the loan spell that would suggest he'd be a nailed on player to sign. Nlundulu, Jerome and Shoretire all failed to make the mark, making it a terrible window by all accounts.

Reads to me more like there aren’t any takers - which of course is hardly surprising!Bertie Wooster wrote: ↑Tue Aug 20, 2024 7:38 pmApparently Dan Toney is still part of Evatt's plans according to the BN

Re: Tooling up: The summer 2024 transfer thread
Evatt’s language around Nlundulu sounds to me the same as it ever was to fringe players, be they Declan John, Nathan Delfouneso or Brandon Comley - stock phrases along the lines of “you’ve got to fight your way in and show me you’re worth it”, “we never shove anyone out” and “if they’ll be happier somewhere else we won’t stand in their way”

Hardly surprising you read it that way, certainly....BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Wed Aug 21, 2024 7:20 amReads to me more like there aren’t any takers - which of course is hardly surprising!Bertie Wooster wrote: ↑Tue Aug 20, 2024 7:38 pmApparently Dan Toney is still part of Evatt's plans according to the BN
Re: Tooling up: The summer 2024 transfer thread
The Iles piece was clearly largely written before the B team fixture yesterday. I can’t see why Dan would have been left out of that other than we’re trying to avoid him getting injured prior to moving him on.
I doubt we will have many takers on a permanent deal, but there would surely be some L2, and perhaps lower-rung L1 teams, that would be happy to have him on loan.

League two or non league but how much of his wages would/could they pay?The_Gun wrote: ↑Wed Aug 21, 2024 9:53 amThe Iles piece was clearly largely written before the B team fixture yesterday. Well, whether there are any takers or not, it certainly seems the headline that appeared on the front page of the BN - "Dan is still part of Evatt's plans" - is undermined by Evatt's quotes and the text of the article, which reads very much as if he's probably not.

Dan still fits into the squad map. If he goes we need to replace him.
Re: Tooling up: The summer 2024 transfer thread
No we wouldn’t, because we don’t have any free squad spaces.GhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Wed Aug 21, 2024 1:21 pmDan still fits into the squad map. If he goes we need to replace him.

Re: Tooling up: The summer 2024 transfer thread
We do, at the minute. Injuries mean we can register everyone now.
However, any additional signings will need to be U21s and we will need to look at the squad again in January.
Registration rules aren't the issue here, though. Dan's role in the squad is necessary for our depth. If he goes we need to sign another player. If that player needed to be U21 for reg rules, fine; but we need the player.

Re: Tooling up: The summer 2024 transfer thread
Would love it to have "Posh-style rapid youngster" written all over it.
Prem sides won't send their best youngsters to "compete" with our forwards. So if we're going to develop a lad who isn't top of the lists then it either needs to be a Dapo-type where we plan to keep him, or we need to buy a lad who is a first team name, but doesn't mind doing the development work and featuring for the Bs a lot.
Now that's assuming nobody in the Bs at the minute is on the verge, in Evatt's mind. If someone is, fine. Give that lad a go.

To that point, where's Conor Carty up to with his ACL?
