In response to transfer rumours that’s pretty much definitive.

Not really. Saying "absolutely not" is definitive, he's actually left an opening by saying "I think"

I reckon they have a gents agreement that he's off at the end of his contract unless something comes up that suits both and that is why Southwood was brought in as eventual replacement.

Indeed. I doubt Southwood would mind being in the Championship eitherDave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Wed Aug 14, 2024 4:48 pmLike promotion to the Championship.Abdoulaye's Twin wrote: ↑Wed Aug 14, 2024 3:23 pmI reckon they have a gents agreement that he's off at the end of his contract unless something comes up that suits both and that is why Southwood was brought in as eventual replacement.

Re: Dem Bones, Dem Bones, Dem Bare Bones....
We are the biggest club Southwood has ever played for. He signed a one-year deal at Cheltenham to get himself in the window and earn a chance at a big club. He's said he's willing to fight for the shirt.
We've done him a favour and taken a risk on him with his injury. The contract reflects that, with the club holding the 3rd year option and not the player or an auto clause.
He's a normal signing for a club of our size and we don't need to overthink it in relation to Baxter.
We should have two quality keepers. If Baxter moves on we will add another quality player. If we go up there's every chance we keep him.
Both keepers are clearly happy to be here.

Tough on the young man. There should be a law which says that any deliberate dangerous tackle which injures a player, the offender is banned from playing for the period of time that the injured player is unfit to play as a result of that injury.GhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Fri Aug 16, 2024 5:10 pmLolos probably needs surgery...

Illustrious list of serious injuries on debut for us - the left back, Tierney? Steve Davis ex Fulham? Robbie Elliot was 3 games in of course.

Could max it at 2 months but it would certainly make them think twice before making the assault.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Fri Aug 16, 2024 6:16 pmBad news for Jonny Evans.irie Cee Bee wrote: ↑Fri Aug 16, 2024 5:50 pmThere should be a law which says that any deliberate dangerous tackle which injures a player, the offender is banned from playing for the period of time that the injured player is unfit to play as a result of that injury.

Robbie Elliot’s was an absolute sickener. We’d finally managed to sign a premiership quality player in their prime from a top side and he was an excellent footballer only for him to be horrifically injured within a few days.officer_dibble wrote: ↑Fri Aug 16, 2024 6:57 pmIllustrious list of serious injuries on debut for us - the left back, Tierney? I mean we signed plenty of very good players then don’t get me wrong. It’s just that Elliot felt like it was different in that he was a very good premiership player already. Felt like a statement.

Yeah new stadium season of course and he was the summers marquee signing - lost him on the first game at the Reebok.

Good news 1: Lolos no needy surgery
Good news 2: CMG "way ahead of schedule" and WILL be in the squad rota
Over to t'gaffer
“Klaidi has had good news, he doesn’t need surgery so he is probably four weeks away which is a lot better than we thought.”
“Carlos is way ahead of schedule and probably looking at seven to eight weeks for returning to play, which isn’t too far away. It has been (a long road back) and we have to get him there and keep him in piece. But his rehabilitation has been excellent. He is way ahead of where we thought he would be. I would think after the second international break, he won’t be far away.”

Both v good news indeed. I'd written CMG off until the new year. He'd be a great addition to this shape.

Re: Dem Bones, Dem Bones, Dem Bare Bones....
I rated CMG when he didn't play for us. Always glad when we played Morecambe, if he was sub. But I'm still not 100% sure where his best slot is. Hopefully it's somewhere in this shape, but a little like our oppo fans saying "x" is great, when you see them week in, week out, you work out why they were gathering splinters at Morecambe. I might have a bit of Andranik syndrome, but hope he can play to his undoubted potential when he returns...
Re: Dem Bones, Dem Bones, Dem Bare Bones....
I take the point that we don't have much to go on, but I'm not sure the rest is quite right. He wasn't gathering splinters at Morecambe, but just promoted to the Prem Luton. He came here off no pre-season then got injured. Then went to Afcon, started to look good and immediately dead.
Big qs over his fitness, but not his quality, IMO.

Yeah, that's all huge news. Again, we can't assume CMG will be himself just because he's technically available, but it's fantastic he's doing well.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Thu Aug 29, 2024 5:09 pmGood news 1: Lolos no needy surgery

That may change things as regards what Evatt feels he needs. We're really just dotting Is and crossing Ts.
I'd LOVE to see some pace come in, but then I always would.

Re: Dem Bones, Dem Bones, Dem Bare Bones....
I don't disagree and might be my bad post. The gathering splinters was partially related to one game v us, so could've been a situational/tactical pick. But if you're that good, you're probably not sat on Morecambe's bench. Absolutely on what's happened since - he's been unlucky. I hope there's a player in there...Prufrock wrote: ↑Thu Aug 29, 2024 5:55 pmI take the point that we don't have much to go on, but I'm not sure the rest is quite right. When he was fully fit all season at Morecambe he was too good for this level.Prufrock wrote: ↑Thu Aug 29, 2024 5:55 pmI take the point that we don't have much to go on, but I'm not sure the rest is quite right. He's not been fit since.
3 seasons is a long time to be injured.
I don't think any of us know what will happen there
