Re: Tooling up: The summer 2024 transfer thread
I'm sorta thinking 60% failure rate, isn't a great selling point? Gotta be honest, someone tells me they can build my extension right 60% probably ain't getting the gig. And it sure as hell isn't convincing me they're way ahead, even if the stats support it. It says my "let's try this one instead, isn't an unconscionable gamble. Coz it almost doest matter with that generous tolerance...GhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Thu Aug 29, 2024 9:12 pmThat's the spirit.Worthy4England wrote: ↑Thu Aug 29, 2024 9:10 pmGreat! So there's 60% no point signung any fcuker, even if we've been talking about it since May. No one is getting promoted. Ever.

The general failure rate across football just is what it is. You can interpret it as you will.
Clubs pay good money to people with the skillsets to cut those failure rates. That's what we pay Markham to do.

I understand that.
And at that level of failure, I'll continue to listen to fan opinion, because there's (at least) 40% still to go at and they might have some notions.
I think in terms of analyising things like football data points, AI will do most of that in a 5 year period (the sort of non meta we currently have)...

What's going to make us part with salary for him? Does he get big goals in big games? Have history of turning 0-1s into 2-1's? Is he just bench warming like Cameron? Why's he good for us and do we need to unload (e.g. Dan) to accomodate his registration?

Pretty in-depth consideration of a player who hasn’t even been linked with us except I idly wondered if he was any good

Thank god for that. I thought I was going to have to watch Preston play football for a minute there.

In my mind we need another mid. Going off what others have said they're less than convinced.
Not sure whether I'll be happy with the window shutting and feeling short in midfield.
Window has been positive so far. Would be nice not to have potential outs like Dan being in limbo but such is the nature of football.

Reports, too, of the club’s turning down a seven-figure bid for Vic from Champo.

To sum up what Iles has said - one deffo going out rumoured to be Nlundulu but not confirmed.
Another maybe going out.
If second goes out it opens up premiership loan possibility.
We also have interest in some free transfer targets but presumably won’t be done today and one wonders how we could sign them without further outs?
Club hoping to hold onto all their ‘stars’ including Adeboyejo.

I wonder if Adeboyejo is pushing for a move - he’s only been a sub and is clearly in demand.
Re: Tooling up: The summer 2024 transfer thread
I would have guessed that Matheson was the ‘guaranteed’ loan exit rather than Dan.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Fri Aug 30, 2024 8:42 amTo sum up what Iles has said - one deffo going out rumoured to be Nlundulu but not confirmed.

Do we think that perhaps the reason they both haven’t left yet is we’ve not had offers from high enough up the pyramid? I suspect that Dan wouldn’t want to drop below L1, and maybe the same for Luke.

Luke just wants to play football - ideally he’ll get l2. Season at Morecambe would make or break him!
Dan…god knows

Re: Tooling up: The summer 2024 transfer thread
I’ve got a feeling it might be an expectation vs reality type situation with Dan. I don’t think he’d be a starter for many L1 teams, and you’d have to think there are likely a plethora of more attractive loanees being made available by clubs higher up the pyramid.

I see Birmingham have bid £9m for Jay Stansfield. 9m feckin quid!
WTAF are they on? They were a basket case financially not so long ago. I seriously hope they don't get promoted.

Came here to post that too! Insane. Would be very funny if they didn't go up. Absolutely insane that we continue to let shit owners gamble with the existence of football clubs, though.
