Rumblings above the wall that Celtic have pulled the trigger on Luke McCowan. £800k initially, rising to £1.25m was the initial bid. Negotiations ongoing and all that.
If true that's one option that's probably gone. We're not competing with Celtic.

I wouldn’t be devastated if we lose Vic for a big fee, although that looks unlikely at this point.
To my mind we’re sorely lacking in pace up top, so if we got big bucks for Vic and could bring in a pacey Prem loanee striker I’d be pretty pleased.

Re: Tooling up: The summer 2024 transfer thread
I don't think there's a loanee in the market that I'd see as as reliable as Vic. I could be wrong, but I'd definitely be sticking and not twisting at this stage.
Re: Tooling up: The summer 2024 transfer thread
Lingering pretty close to the David N'Gog or Shola Shoretire lines of thinking, but I get the idea. We've already got N'lundulu that ticks the fast pacey striker from a premier league side.
Vic can do a job for us. A new Prem prospect maybe a bit of a wildcard that could derail us. I'm sure business would dictate taking the money and a loan, but not sure it would be the best thing for us. All depends who we have lined up.

This is the dullest deadline day for a while. Not unexpected- we’ve done our business - feel a bit sorry for Marc Iles who clearly had to try and hype it up.

Iles's squad list, of whom he says one will definitely be loaned out (elsewhere he says the clubs are just deciding when to announce it), does NOT include Matheson. Does include Nlundulu, Iredale and Williams.
Re: Tooling up: The summer 2024 transfer thread
He does say one loan exit expected today and the next line another loan exit likely. My money the second will be Matheson going out to a non-league or Irish team after today.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Fri Aug 30, 2024 3:40 pmIles's squad list, of whom he says one will definitely be loaned out (elsewhere he says the clubs are just deciding when to announce it), does NOT include Matheson. I'd be disappointed meself if Matheson isn't at least D4. It doesn't scream of "imminently bursting into the first team". But we'll see.malcd1 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 30, 2024 3:56 pmHe does say one loan exit expected today and the next line another loan exit likely. Iles now saying "Wanderers have a couple of free agent options" - think that's the first time I've read it in the plural. How many squad gaps there are remains to be seen.
Re: Tooling up: The summer 2024 transfer thread
Well, Iles has stated that there's at least one out on loan. Sounds like a done deal any time now, with another loan out likely.
Matheson, Khumbeni, N'lundulu, etc.
My guess would be N'lundulu given Iles is doing a story about the loan rather than just posting a line and then a write up afterward.

Ah yes, of course he was. Me being a bit dim, just trying to chuck out names of other players near the first team squad that are fit and able.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Fri Aug 30, 2024 6:22 pmKhumbeni was loaned to Accy a while back, Mar.
We've not had an abundance of players getting close to the first team squad. Maybe Sonny Sharples, Ben Andreucci, Ajay Weston may have been better shouts.

You can't coach improvement into a player who is never fit.
Best of luck to him. No idea if any of his fitness issues are his own fault through lifestyle or he's just had bad luck. Careers are short, though.

If you’ve barely played any proper men’s football by 24 it’s too late. And there is probably a reason for that too.GhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Fri Aug 30, 2024 8:00 pmYou can't coach improvement into a player who is never fit.

I still wince at how he got that injury last season. By missing a retaken penalty in a papa johns game. If ever a moment subbed up a players career, that was it!GhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Fri Aug 30, 2024 8:00 pmYou can't coach improvement into a player who is never fit.
