I have a theory, these three have had issue with not playing and as such caused a few issues in the changing room.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Sat Aug 31, 2024 12:01 amPretty obvious to me that Evatt looked at the first game and decided that was it for Iredale. You can’t blame him as it was simply not good enough. Equally though some players get chance after chance. I feel like he’s never really been that keen on Iredale for whatever reason.
The dig at Evatt from Nlundlu might show not all was well with his relationship. I do blame Evatt as he's built him up just to be let down by the lack of ability.
Rumour of Morley walking out at full time in the Wrexham game.
Possibly nothing in it.

Maybe. I would suggest that there has been maybe a ‘difficult’ relationship with Iredale and Evatt and maybe others but that is normal as they weren’t playing so often.DJBlu wrote: ↑Sat Aug 31, 2024 10:49 amI have a theory, these three have had issue with not playing and as such caused a few issues in the changing room.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Sat Aug 31, 2024 12:01 amPretty obvious to me that Evatt looked at the first game and decided that was it for Iredale. Evatt is I suspect not that easy to live with when you aren’t in the favourites camp.

Re: Tooling up: The summer 2024 transfer thread
Apsrt from the curious breed that are the professional third goalkeepers (Stuart Taylor and the like), not many professional players are happy with not playing. It's a blow to the ego - which all players have to have to some extent, or they won't make it - and it harms the career.
Football management is about making hard decisions. Evatt loaning Nlundulu comes with a huge heap of humble pie. Some of those decisions were a while in the making, but while it may have slipped my notice, I can't recall a single post on here saying "Iredale's finished, we need to upgrade." (There's probably loads of X posts, but the #bwfc hashtag is a cesspit of gobshittery.)
I'm surprised by the speed of Jack's downfall - three weeks ago he started our season opener - but deadlines have a habit of speeding things up. I wish him all the best, but more importantly I hope the "losing a lefty" gamble works for us and allows us to sign a gamechanger.

I always quite liked Iredale but I always thought he was really a left back in a four and not an ideal fit for LCB and certainly not LWB. He’s a good footballer and grafter - I guess the only thing is he always has a mistake in him defensively it seems.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Sat Aug 31, 2024 11:08 amApsrt from the curious breed that are the professional third goalkeepers (Stuart Taylor and the like), not many professional players are happy with not playing. Don't we all. I Wish him well like all the other ex Bolton players.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Sat Aug 31, 2024 1:12 pm

We do, indeed. I think the larger factor is how often it's on display.TANGODANCER wrote: ↑Sat Aug 31, 2024 1:36 pmDon't we all. I Wish him well like all the other ex Bolton players.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Sat Aug 31, 2024 1:12 pm

Re: Tooling up: The summer 2024 transfer thread
Lets be honest, the vast majority of players we've let go due to lack of game time could quite easily be in the starting lineup of most league one sides. It's no surprise they are wanting to get game time.
Aimson, Morley, Iredale, Kachunga, Sadlier, MJ Williams.
They're not bad players. Evatt generally does a decent job of keeping most happy with playing time, but when you see the likes of Morley barely getting a game due to under performing then it makes sense to loan them out to get their form back up.

Has anything been leaked about the out of contract player or players we are talking to ? & does anyone know when the squad list has to be submitted to the EFL.

No name but BN this morning running the following quote, presumably from Saturday (ie "early next week" is now)Bertie Wooster wrote: ↑Sun Sep 01, 2024 1:51 pmHas anything been leaked about the out of contract player or players we are talking to ? & does anyone know when the squad list has to be submitted to the EFL.
We have targeted and highlighted somebody. There wasn’t a need to rush anything through on deadline day because he is obviously a free agent and we are not governed by the window on this one but we are hopeful early next week we will have some news.
Re: Tooling up: The summer 2024 transfer thread
I had a look at the squad of efl free agents that played vs Cambridge the other day, and none particularly jumped out at me as obvious signings for Bolton. Marcus Browne perhaps the player with the most obvious potential to be a League One contributor.

I\ve neither the time nor the energy right now but this Transfermarkt search might help (or might not)
It's currently pointed at blokes who last played in the Champo but you could tweak as you see fit

Re: Tooling up: The summer 2024 transfer thread
No but you can guarantee he ‘won’t be up to speed’ having ‘not had a pre season’ and will be mentally fatigued in no time! Utterly fecking pointless. Would rather the next manager had the spare squad place, probably for a left back now we’ve let the one we had go.Bertie Wooster wrote: ↑Sun Sep 01, 2024 1:51 pmHas anything been leaked about the out of contract player or players we are talking to ? & does anyone know when the squad list has to be submitted to the EFL.

Evatt's the manager and he has to win the games. A left back won't help him do that.

Re: Tooling up: The summer 2024 transfer thread
18 and just made his first team debut recently. This is the kind of signing you want in a Bs set-up. Young, technical and quick lads who you can develop. Very much the sort of thing Posh would do.
I'm all for it.
I'm all for it.
Re: Tooling up: The summer 2024 transfer thread
Undisclosed fee for a B team player.
Maybe this is the potential transfer that Iles was hinting at. Not a decent enough one to whet the appetite on transfer deadline day or even appease the Evatt outers, but a potentially good acquisition nonetheless.

Nah, Iles has been talking about picking up a free agent. This lad wasn’t free, nor will he be a first team squad member.

Re: Tooling up: The summer 2024 transfer thread
Predictably, got a bit bored and had a look over lunch al desko. There's a few names there who might be interesting pickups (and that's just lads who last played in the Champo - could be folk from anywhere really). In decreasing order of Transfermarkt's somewhat hoky "transfer value"...Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Mon Sep 02, 2024 11:54 amI've neither the time nor the energy right now but this Transfermarkt search might help (or might not)
It's currently pointed at blokes who last played in the Champo but you could tweak as you see fit
Aaron Connolly is the name that's most regularly been linked (although Freddie Ladapo's got some numbers recently). Connolly made his Brighton debut aged 17 as a slightly terrifying manchild. Didn't fulfil that promise amid loans to Luton, Boro, Venezia and Hull. altho the latter were impressed enough to give him a one-year deal last summer. In that year he scored 8 league goals, one every 151 minutes, but was absolutely (Harald) Schumachered by Norwich keeper Angus Gunn in January – concussion, shoulder injury – and barely featured thereafter. Big question for us is whether he's more 9 or 10 - he's powerful but short (and 'stocky'). Still only 24. Said by Irish website Extra.ie to have "concrete interest" from MLS and England, with Celtic 'monitoring'.
Sheyi Ojo burst to prominence even younger - 14, when Liverpool bought him from McDons for £2m. He stayed on the scousers' books until the age of 25, by which time the winger had been loaned to Wigan, Wolves, Fulham, Reims, Rangers, Cardiff and Millwall. Again, Cardiff saw enough to sign him permanently, in summer 2022; manager Steve Morison was gone by October but successors Mark Hudson and Sabri Lamouchi also picked him regularly – he played 39 times that season in pretty much every midfield/forward position (as you ask, he's 5ft 10). But then the new new new gaffer Erol Bolut shipped him out to the Belgian top flight until his contract lapsed. With 145 second-tier games (12 goals, 14 assists) you can imagine he hoped not to dip down; he's also just turned 27, so he may be feely the bony finger of time on his shoulder. Bless him.
Fred Onyedinma has played 149 tier-two games (9G 13A) and 110 tier-three (15G 12A) for Millwall, Wycombe, Luton and (last season) Rotherham - he also picked up 8 top-flight games for the Hatters last term. He's also 27, 6ft1 and has, again, played every position across midfield and attack, so he could plug in very well. Rob Edwards would presumably give his mate Evvo the lowdown, and Edwards' predecessor Nathan Jones said of Onyedinma two years ago: "He’s the most supreme athlete. If he wasn’t a footballer he’d be a sprinter – he’s only a few hundredths of a second off being a GB sprinter." He trained with Stoke in pre-season and had an offer from Turkey but hasn't taken it (yet).
Gavin Whyte could bolster the Norn Iron contingent. The 28-year-old winger has 122 third-tier appearances (12G 18A) plus 45 tier-two (1G 2A) for Oxford, Cardiff, Hull and, last season, Pompey (29 league apps). Does seem to be more of a winger than a 10, though. And though it's far from his fault, I keep getting him confused with Gregg Wylde. (Still going, aged 33, in the Scottish sixth tier.)
Marcus Browne, mentioned by The Gun above, can play 11, 10 or 7 and was at Oxford last season, though he missed much of it with a hammy. Now 26, the Londoner came through the West 'Am Academy and also played for Boro; in all, 96 third-tier games (15G 12A) and 18 second-tier (2G 1A).

Re: Tooling up: The summer 2024 transfer thread
Bit of a niche one to know anything about. "Ireland youth international" would usually mean I'd seen him play, but can't say I remember.
Would be very interested if anyone on here has any knowledge of him.
