Aye and the fate of a number 9 and the team are often inextricably linked. Do we need the rest of the team behind to click so he can get the goals, or for him to scab one on to get us breathing space to click. Bit of both.
And the press has changed, so might take time to get up to speed. Hopefully not much!
Hopefully the competition between him and Vic for one spot drives them both on.

On the first point, even when I was a kid I worked out that "Liverpool have never lost when Ian Rush has scored" can be reworded as "Liverpool's losses have all come when Ian Rush didn't score." And they were hardly a bad team....

I was in a nightclub in Bolton once, when this guy was informing everybody he was Alan Ball's dad. There was no queue to listen...Price of fame hey?Abdoulaye's Twin wrote: ↑Fri Sep 06, 2024 2:02 pmWait until you hear about Neville Southall thenDave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Fri Sep 06, 2024 2:01 pmHands down the best claim to fame I've ever readAbdoulaye's Twin wrote: ↑Fri Sep 06, 2024 1:52 pmI was in hospital when I was a 20 year old and next door but one bed to Ian Rush's uncle![]()

So Tutu out for 6 weeks with a knee injury. One Evatt described after the game as ‘nothing to worry about’.
A meaningless and pointless cup game. Well done.

Surely we register Matheson now?
Re: Dem Bones, Dem Bones, Dem Bare Bones....
The actual quote was as below. He was "hopeful" that it was nothing too serious. Some might say a 7 week absence, for a knee injury, is not too serious.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Thu Sep 12, 2024 4:35 pmSo Tutu out for 6 weeks with a knee injury. Bolton News wrote: On Osei-Tutu’s injury, Evatt hoped the problem would not be a major one. The wing-back walked back on to the team bus under his own steam after a first half collision with Junior Tenisiala.
“We are hopeful it is nothing too serious,” he said. “He had quite a nasty knee injury last season when he was on loan in the Greek Premier League. When he fell over he jarred it in the ground a little bit, I think he scared himself. I think it is nothing too serious.”

It is a fecking kick in the bollocks whichever way you spin it. Dacres Cogley has so far not impressed.

This was always the worry with Tutu. He had to play. You can't just not get a player fit. Sucks, but there you go.

Are you blaming the manager for the player being injured in a match?BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Thu Sep 12, 2024 4:35 pmSo Tutu out for 6 weeks with a knee injury. One Evatt described after the game as ‘nothing to worry about’.

For risking first team players in that match. I said beforehand I wouldn't, that it was asking for an injury. Play the kids, pay the £5000 fine and move on.boltonboris wrote: ↑Fri Sep 13, 2024 9:23 amAre you blaming the manager for the player being injured in a match?BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Thu Sep 12, 2024 4:35 pmSo Tutu out for 6 weeks with a knee injury. Instead we've now lost a key player for 6 weeks. 'He needs games to get match fit'. Super. When will he be match fit now?
Re: Dem Bones, Dem Bones, Dem Bare Bones....
He obviously needed minutes before he was ready to start. He got a contact injury. Nothing to see here.

Re: Dem Bones, Dem Bones, Dem Bare Bones....
If he played this weekend and got injured due to not being up to speed or whatever, you'd have panned him for not giving him the minutes against Barrow.
I think at this stage, you've just got tunnel vision with Evatt and every decision he makes and every word he says, to you, is the wrong thing.

To be fair to BWFCi, he has pretty much always been against 'risking' players in minor cups.
To be less pleasant, he often seems to prefer being right to being happy. Each to their own.

I said before the game on this forum that I'd completely back Evatt to play the kids, take the £5000 fine. So no. I was before the game saying that was the right thing to do.boltonboris wrote: ↑Fri Sep 13, 2024 10:30 amIf he played this weekend and got injured due to not being up to speed or whatever, you'd have panned him for not giving him the minutes against Barrow.

And yes a player can get injured in any game. We sign players who are injury prone. So it will happen. But my annoyance is that he was injured in a completely meaningless cup game that was not exactly unpredictable to suggest it brings risks.
Have a training match on a good pitch behind closed doors with a bit less intensity than a bunch of Barrow reserves wanting to barrel into you. Fine. Player might get injured but that is a different story.
