Moving onto Sharon this week?

Yer we won and all that but..

Zero platform for anyone to succeed.

Bet the gravy is always lumpy in your house.
Zero platform? This is his 5th season here. 4th in this league.

He’s also had more money to spend than any post premier league bolton manager has enjoyed.

He's had more in transfer fees. Absolutely not in wages.

And one of your old pals biggest insights was the importance of wages.

But he’s been able to sign every player. Plonk him into a squad with a bunch of high wage players who are struggling and see how he does….I doubt it would be pretty.

What do we reckon today folks, bounce-back-ability kicking in?

I mean... Maybe. It's hard to say, but there was a lot of quality in that Parky team. He still did an excellent job, but more to do with having to constantly adapt rather than a lack of quality. And towards the end he ran out of road too. It can happen.

That L1 season I think is the best season of "management" we've had since Sam, but then the next two years are Evatt. And the L2 season was a similarly impressive "good budget but a lot of other shit to deal with" year.

Team will be interesting.

Does he stay 343? Back himself that they're on the right track but it needs some coaching tweaks (hence changes) and hope for something to click?

Is it bunker mentality, back to 352 - hey we were close last year and recruitment has been good?

Or is it 433, what he claims he's always wanted to play, if he's going down he might as well make sure he doesn't die wondering.

I can see any of those, tbh.
Yeah, pretty much what I was saying. I would say that if he sticks with the 343 he's more stubborn than I thought, and I'm not sure he wants to go down that way.

Changing formation would throw a bit of meat to the fans. Would also let him play Sheehan (in either 3142 or 433) without leaving midfield too open.

Anyways, three changes. And it looks to me like 3-1-4-2.

So, similar to the formation we adopted last season?

It's an extra body in midfield and Santos can concentrate on being a defender.

Captain Thomason confirmed. Why the club hasn't come out and said it is strange. Seems like they're trying to avoid criticism perhaps.

Either way, 3-5-2 seems a decent switch from our 5-2-3 formation. Would much rather 5 in the mid rather than 2 with 3 up top.

I suspect this will be a return to the 3-1-4-2. Sheehan sat behind Matete and the new skipper, Vic joining Charles up top. All that bit's fine; problem is the width then comes from the wingbacks, JDC and Schön.

Collins and McAtee both relegated to the bench.

First time Vic & Dion have started together since February. And it's all been fine since then, right?

Pretty sure the reason we signed Vic was to help link up with Dion. Would make sense to pair them together.

Big fan of Collins but its not been working for him so far this season. McAtee looks a decent option.

I suspect that the system will make it easier for us and our stronger players to operate in. Probably close to the team I’d have picked given what’s available.

Fact McAtee can’t get in the side is pretty damning on the summers activities.

This comes across to me as whinging for the sake of whinging.

Collins, Charles, Adeboyejo were our main strikers. We lost JDB and Jerome. We were looking to bring in cover to come off the bench. That's exactly where McAtee is at the moment. McAtee looks more of a threat than JDB and Jerome at the moment so seems like good business.

Not sure where your complaint stems from.

When you spend a million quid or close enough in league one you are looking for a bit more than ‘well he’s better off the bench than Jerome’. A lot lot more.

Again, you're just finding ways to complain.

Looks like Coleman in their net.

Decent press so far. Lets go. Statement of intent from the looks of it.

Finally!

A welcome to the game challenge from our lads.

Feels like we've not seen them for quite some time.

(not that I want to see Campbell injured, its more to impose ourselves on the game)

Can't say they aren't trying, from the first 5 mins.
