Max Conway and Nelson Khumbeni both in the unenviable positions of being brought on as first half subs today. Nelson seems to be have been called up as the result of an 20th minute Accrington injury; Max, meanwhile, was part of a triple sub in the 37th minute yo stop the rot, with Crewe already 4-0 down at that point.

Ouch.

Max Conway played in a 2-1 win for Crewe yesterday.

Initially as a LWB and then an orthodox left back.

Played well generally. Looks naïve defensively at times and got wrong-side of his man, but was dogged and didn't surrender too much. One really bad moment where he just didn't see the run until he was cooked and was 5 yards behind his man when the cross went in.

He won free kicks around the box, mostly by battling and being fouled.

Couple of cute moments where he ran his man.

He tired and when they went to a back four he was less involved, though more solid. Got subbed off as they chased a winner.

It's a full-season loan, although we may have January dibs.

We’ll find out I guess. Presumably we have the option to bring him back in January which might be an idea, particularly if we were in a mid table/bottom half league position.

I saw old boy MJ Williams playing for MK Dons at Bromley yesterday. He played well enough, but wouldn't make our starting XI.

Sounds like Morley is doing very well at Wycombe, which is certainly a positive for us at this point. However, I wonder if we get to January and Wycombe are looking like promotion rivals whether we might consider a tactical recall? Very speculative at this stage, of course, and I’m pleased to see Aaron flourishing.

I saw they had christened him Morley-Donna.
He’s the one we’ve let go in scratching my head at - why couldn’t we get more out of him? Why did he drop off last year - becoming a dad? We seemed quick to let him go this year and to team we’ll probably be in and around points wise…

Yup..we are a midfielder short. An injury puts us in trouble as Arfield is not at Morley's level based on what Ive seen so far. Morley is now a starter at Wycombe and apparently assisted in both their goals yesterday in their win.

Let's see how he does until January. He's started well. As have our other loaners. Dan has the hardest route back. Morley and Conway look at have clear pathways if they can show they're ready to come in.
