London Crawleying. An away Clash with Crawley Town, Sat 28th of Sept. 12-30.

We're on 27% possession but winning. Such mixed emotions.
Crawley are playing good football without being particularly dangerous. Famous last words of course.
Where have I heard that before?
:D

27% possession or not, I won't have a single complaint if it stays like this. There's the argument against we can only play one way.

Have we actually changed the way we play here, or are we just being denied the opportunity to play that way given Crawley's effort levels.

Feels more like we've decided against the short passing at the back in favour of hitting the big man up top and then playing that way. Don't think they've given up on the whole intricate passing just yet.

I'd say we're playing like a team that plays agains us. Wait for the break down, hit on the break and play for free kicks/corners.

Dirty words but hey it's working.

Terrible decision against JDC there from the linesman. Let it go. There's nothing entertaining about a defensive free kick.

Close from Dempsey. Ref making the odd choice of blowing when Toaly's about to have a shot.

Insane end to that half. Cogley’s touch has let him down all half, then he’s superb in finding Demps, who hits the bar (and should score). Ball comes out to Toal who pulls back for a shot and the whistle is blown. Jobsworth stuff.

Was going to say this doesn’t look a game for Vic, as close control is everything: no space, no time. Then, the last few minutes, he pulls balls out of the sky and sets us on our way.

Despite Crawley’s dominance, probably should be at least two-up. Really impressed with them, however, and I fancy they’ll score.

Need to get some control of the pace by acquiring the ball—but that said, they’re doing well without it. Strange game.

I think Vic is doing what he needs to do. They've had a lot of possession but its been with the midfield and the attack as Vic and Dion have got their back 3 penned in.

His attacking play has been a little suspect but we need him as a physical presence to get the ball high up the pitch. I think McAtee could do it but we need the physicality too.

Grinding out wins is massively important for any promotion campaign, they don't always have to be pretty. But... Getting completely dominated by Crawley town is a bit shit, yeah we could be 3 up, Charles has got malarky on toast, so in one respect it's good. I just don't see this team threatening promotion. Have we improved from last season?

I agree with you. What the kids call “aura”. It should be the old-school big lad and little lad 9 and 10—if he could win a few more flick-ons and find Dion down the sides. Dadbod a couple of years ago would’ve been made for this.

Really enjoying this. For once. We are shithousing our way through.

Let them look like we do most of the time. An ineffective possession side. We have little of the ball but carry all the threat.

Only thing I’d say is we should be 2-0 up at least.

But as a performance pretty great imho. We should be playing like this all the time. It’s repeatable. We have good defensive shape know they will have the ball and know how to hurt them. Need to put it together for full 90 now.

They look a well drilled, well coached outfit and are playing very tidy football, but they lack the quality to threaten us.

I think we'll win it pretty comfortably in the second half.

Hang on a minute. Just a few stats from some of their games. They have had the lions share of possession in all their games so everyone they've played has been a bit shit. What they are doing with it is costing them, just like we did last season. Remember Wigan away?

Crawley 0 - 3 Barnsley
68.9% - 31.1%

BHA 4 - 0 Crawley
44.3% - 55.7%

Wigan 1 - 0 Crawley
27.4% - 72.6%

I wouldn't say i'm overly enjoying it, but it's certainly more of what we've been needing from the club. Getting rid of that soft underbelly.

Add this to our usual pass and movement and we'll have plenty enough to grind out results in the season.

Almost like Ian Evatt has done his homework.

Would like us to score another just to feel a little more comfortable.

P.S. Has there been a game where the audio hasn't been wank with wanderers tv?

Can't say I'm surprised to see certain people enjoying a performance where we've had very little of the ball.

Getting nothing out of these officials.

This is far more entertaining - we’ve actually looked threatening.

Their number 18 has looked a handful on a number of occasions. Might be a player we've got on our radar.

How many fouls is Jay WIlliams gonna get away with?

The current score also helps!
