Lies, damned lies and now the damned tics. Wigan (H) Saturday 12.30pm

Where fellow sufferers gather to share the pain, longing and unrequited transfer requests that make being a Wanderer what it is...

Let’s be clear here, we’re not losing this game because our players aren’t trying, or because of sideways passing.

Wigan should be three up now. Missed two sitters. Which means we will win this. But as with previous games nothing can take away that first half. It’s utterly unacceptable, in a totally miserable season.

Tallest dwarf competition an all that, but I think Jones and Santos are performing well.

Johnston seems to be putting in his best impression of Jack Iredale.

Add Baxter to the performing well club.
I’ll give you Jones, apart from his passing.
Santos has been fecking wank. He’s weak as piss at defending open play crosses.

Good to see how, err solid and strong we are without our lightweight bottler Sheehan in the team....

Please can all those vocal critics of him watch that half back and tell me how we were better without him...

Mentality, beaten before kick off, treating it like a normal game and surprised when they give it 110%.

Anyone claiming santos and Baxter, chief clowns in a sea of clowns, are standouts for playing well is either on the wind up or simply not watching the game.

Weirdly I agree here. Cavalry off the bench will save us.

That's Johnston and Santos out of the Wycombe game if not mistaken.
You’re not mistaken. Thomason too? Oh well, it’s only a trip to the league leaders. At least we got some yellows in a derby.

Once again we freeze in front of a big crowd. Should be 0-3 down at half time. We all look like we are staring at headlights. Completely lost. Luckily we are still in it, just 0-1 down. Charles and Ade are giving the Wigan defenders time-off. They are of no threat. Thomasson completely out of the game. One team playing football at the moment. Collins need to be out there.

Fair enough, hadn't spotted that, but on reflection that's accurate.

As for Jones' passing, he's only got the option to go long with the midfield not showing for the ball. He's not perfect, but he's giving the performance level that i'm used to. Doesn't seem like Jones' standards have dropped here.

Oh and yet another goalless home first half. Is that 11 in 12 league games?

I think Thomason missed the Mansfield game?

Can someone tell me seriously what we are coached to do? We try to pass backwards and sideways and Wigan press us and we fall apart. Then the answer is to go backwards before booting it anywhere. And there is no plan beyond that. What does Evatt tell them? What do they do all week? Why can’t we play into midfield? It’s clear they are terribly coached because you can see they simply don’t know what to do. Every situation should be robotic. We should know the out balls. The spare man. The runners. That’s a basic. But we don’t. We get the ball look up pass backwards, hoof it to nowhere or go back try and use the wide centre backs and lose it

That’s not just ‘playing badly’. Thats a complete lack of organisation. Wigan have far worse players but are drilled and structured and organised.

Not had many goalless seconds though fortunately have we?

No, which is why we haven’t changed the manager. I’m beginning to wonder whether the late comebacks are blessing or curse.

They're seeming a blessing, but we shouldn't be as bad in the first half.
