Re: The ianevattable sacking
I think if we've learnt anything this season it's that accountability may be viewed as a luxury.Worthy4England wrote: ↑Fri Dec 27, 2024 12:45 pmI don't expect one person and I certainly expect collaboration. But there's a couple of interviews - one with Evatt/Markham and one with just Markham. I come away from both thinking "If this doesn't work out, it's going to be neither's fault." Tell me the DoF works for Manager and I'm good with it. But for me when the spiel is "It's both of us playing in our best positions" then if one has it wrong, the other one is likely on that side of the list too.
They're stringing it out in the hope Evatt can turn it around. That may mean we're in real bother in the summer if/when he doesn't.
I asked a chairman once why he stuck with a manager and he said, "I'd have to lie about the state of the club to attract a new one and I don't want to do that."
I hope that's not the case here. The best case for us is that Sharon just has far too much personal loyalty.

Re: The ianevattable sacking
Its really about ambitions. I honestly thought the Championship was our target last season and failing that, this season promotion is a must. From the lack of action by the Board and the endorsement of Evatt by the Chairman, the target seems to have changed, perhaps due to financial reasons.
I for one lost all confidence in Evatt after the silence when we lost to Oxford. Summer transactions made it worse. Morley to Wycombe shows what good mangers can do with decent players like what we have. He is not learning his craft fast enough, and I am afraid we may not even get to the playoffs with him in charge, even though we have the players to do so.

I see Stoke have potted their manager after three months, quote from Mike Pejic - former player
" he already has good players. Maybe he just needed to play them in the right positions. "
Very familiar and very Morecambe and Wise

I mean if the manager and the coaches can’t be arsed to come into work why should the players bother?”I am talking about daily habits. The coaching staff and the manager are not there all the time, so they have to hold each other accountable and when standards start to slip, that is the time to call it out.“

Is that the quote that has generated the "ITK" thing on Twitter etc about coaches not showing up to work?officer_dibble wrote: ↑Sat Dec 28, 2024 11:19 amhttps://www.theboltonnews.co.uk/sport/2 ... -new-year/

Players aren't supervised every second of every bit of work they do on the grass and in the gym. There aren't enough staff to do that with 25+ players. Even at elite clubs, with a lot of coaches, players will do gym work and some grass work under their own steam. Usually players will go in small groups and use weight rooms, or specific machines.
Same with physio stuff. There will be stuff the players do with physios, but also stuff they have to do at home or in the gym without the physios around as part of rehab or monitoring.
That's absolutely normal.

The ‘ITK’ stuff goes further - he’s not making the journey across every day. I’ve no idea. It reads like the players are at lostock on their own part of the time to me. Which does seem a bit amateur - but that’s on the chairman and senior level management - what kind of ship are they running here?

If that's correct, that Evatt's not showing up on work days (whether it's by agreement or not), it's on Sharon and the board. Absolutely shouldn't be allowed and would be beyond ridiculous during a period like this.officer_dibble wrote: ↑Sat Dec 28, 2024 12:43 pmThe ‘ITK’ stuff goes further - he’s not making the journey across every day. I would add that the rumours of Evatt not being round much have been there for a few months now.GhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Sat Dec 28, 2024 12:47 pmIf that's correct, that Evatt's not showing up on work days (whether it's by agreement or not), it's on Sharon and the board. Yes there are comments on other BWFC forums about players in the gym doing next to nothing, unsupervised, on phones etc. not taking things serious apart from the odd one or two players.officer_dibble wrote: ↑Sat Dec 28, 2024 12:43 pmThe ‘ITK’ stuff goes further - he’s not making the journey across every day. What I don't get is that we have a manager & two assistant managers, surely out of the three of them one could be at each session ? it does appear amateur and also could be the reason why the players don't look as fit as the majority of the opposition players do.
To be honest I don't think that the chairman has any idea about what's required on the football side of things, and probably takes anything Evatt says as gospel. In regards to 'what kind of ship are they running' to many it looks to be a sinking one !
Evatt is in danger of becoming the most disliked Bolton manager since Megson.

I'm not talking about his narcissistic personality, my 'becoming the most disliked Bolton manager since Megson' is based purely on the absolute turgid, dull, boring, robotic, predicable football his Bolton team plays and the ineffective formation, set-up, tactics, substitutions etc. and his absolute inability to change things in game to counter the opposition's changes.GhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Sat Dec 28, 2024 1:49 pmHe's an easy person to dislike.Bertie Wooster wrote: ↑Sat Dec 28, 2024 1:36 pmEvatt is in danger of becoming the most disliked Bolton manager since Megson.

This could be right. But why would you need to be round much when the Analyst Department, Recruitment Dept. Fcuk me Sideways Dept are running the show? All you have to do is assemble the "fcuk me it's a bit of a risk" XI what could possibly go wrong.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Sat Dec 28, 2024 1:07 pmI would add that the rumours of Evatt not being round much have been there for a few months now.GhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Sat Dec 28, 2024 12:47 pmIf that's correct, that Evatt's not showing up on work days (whether it's by agreement or not), it's on Sharon and the board. Re: The ianevattable sacking
Would explain why the likes of Sonny Sharples aren't getting a look in, or indeed Evatt's getting the side eye from Matt Barrass when CMG is coming on after being injured. Same goes for Tutu being forced to play 60+ mins when we all know he's been struggling to fill 30.Worthy4England wrote: ↑Sat Dec 28, 2024 9:11 pmThis could be right. Might just be that Evatt has his mind set on a particular style of play and is co-ordinating those around him expecting others to drive the project like he did in the early days.
Not likely to happen if Evatt himself isn't around enough.

Re: The ianevattable sacking
If rumours that there are two camps in the dressing room with one openly wanting the manager gone and the other fiercely loyal are true then it’s a total mess behind the scenes. Can only blame Sharon for it all really. She needed to show some leadership skills but has universally failed to do so. More and more people are saying like me that they are just not going anymore. She has a real problem I think for next season unless somehow Evatt flukes promotion season ticket sales will be drastically poor whether Evatt is here or not. The whole Phil Neal prophecy is playing out I just hope that Rioch is next.

Alex Neill, my preferred replacement for Evatt, has just taken over at Millwall. He seems a better fit for them than the previously touted Mark Robins.

Can see Mark Robins biding his time waiting for a decent opportunity in the summer. Been at it a long time without a break now

Wonder what Schumacher's waiting for? 5 of the Champo's bottom 7 have already pressed the panic button, the exceptions being the bottom two - Pompey and his old club Plymouth. We don't know how many of those sits-vac he went for - Cardiff, Cov, Hull, Millwall and Oxford all came up while he was available and went to other men. So unless he's thrown his hat in the ring for West Brom, or he's waiting for Preston to tire of Heckingbottom, mahybe he's waiting for a third-tier project with room to grow?

Re: The ianevattable sacking
West Brom will want a bigger name with more of a track record. They're in with a serious chance of the play offs. That will attract some available talent, I'm sure - Suppose they also don't need somebody in the dole queue. They could cherry pick. Do they have the finances to do that? I dunno..Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Mon Dec 30, 2024 3:15 pm...whereas Alex Neil, who left Stoke 14 months ago, is at the opposite end of that break.boltonboris wrote: ↑Mon Dec 30, 2024 2:49 pmCan see Mark Robins biding his time waiting for a decent opportunity in the summer. 'Schuey' may not be as in-demand as people believe. Amazing how quickly your stock can drop these days, when you weren't a big time player (as spectacularly good as he was as a teen). Maybe he fancies seeing what happens with Rooney if he's still got the keys to a house down there
