All of them are dependent on promotion. Sheehan looking for his last decent contract and he's the one most likely to get a decent wedge at this moment.

Could see him moving closer to home and any one of Bristol City, Cardiff, or Swansea could double his current wage and probably would
I really don’t see it. Championship is a physical step up and Sheehan struggles down here. You’d need to accommodate him in the same way Wednesday used to accommodate Bannan but Sheehan isn’t nearly as good especially in key attacking areas.

I could see a manager the level up think (misguidedly) they could fix the parts of Santos’ game that mean he’s not played higher than this before. They probably could have 5 years ago if the right one got a hold of him. Cos that’s all mentality and attitude. Physically he’s more than there.

Good move by the club. His international career is picking up now, if, as expected, we stay down this season, then we've a saleable asset in the summer.

Aye - does it also go a little way to dispel the rumours that the players are not playing for or supportive of the manager?

The fact that he still has the support of the players, is probably the reason he still has a job. Whenever a manager has a bad spell you get fans making up "lost the dressing room" bollocks

I’m genuinely surprised he’s signed. So that bodes well for what’s going on behind the scenes. On the face of it we are not going up and he may well have a new manager within the next 6 months, so he’s obviously happy at the club.

I'm a supporter. I don't think Evatt takes us up this year and should be gone. That doesn't mean I'm not a supporter and of course I'd be very happy to say my view was wrong, should he take us up. Manager's should not just blindly get unequivocal support, they're probably easier to change, than the team you support.

Assuming Sheehan has got maybe improved terms or even the same for longer, that isn't indicative of "support" necessarily, it just changes his current job security. Someone could still come in, in Jan/Summer, offer him double one div up and meet the transfer fee, and he could be off. That's not a show of faith, it's just looking after yourself.

There's something to be said for both sides: frustration from the fans and a lack of concentration and effort from the players. It isn't bad luck or even skill from the opposition when we let in five soft goals from a team no better than us, just carelessness and mistakes. Being fair, none of it was really the managers fault; he doesn't play, nor the system. We had a sloppy bad day and got our asses kicked for it.

We've had to come from behind a few times and that hardly ever helps. Shut the door on it and make sure it doesn't happen again. :spank:

I've seen enough of Evatt's football and enough comical goals to know that Evatt is at least partially to blame for the goals we conceded against Stockport. Sure the players can rock up and be crap on the odd occasion, that's football, but despite that we're still seeing the same comical goals we conceded under the likes of Crellin and Dixon. Matete's slip up was a prime example against Stockport of a goal we've seen previously.

Passes from Baxter to their player from a yard out mirrors Dixon vs Hartlepool, dalliances on the ball from Matete is similar to Santos a few seasons back, Santos passing to their player for a long shot to nestle in the top of the net is another one springing to mind.

It's the type of football we play. When the pressures on, we need to find an outlet to ease it but yet we don't. We've had way too many of these 5-0, 4-1, 4-0, etc. for it not to be a coincidence.

I'm not saying throw out Evatt ball, but we need to cut out the stupidity that leads to these goals by blindly following a pattern which we know leads to silly goals being conceded.

Just wish he'd make us hard to beat when things are tough and easy on the eye when we do have time on the ball.

*Stars indicate underage players; number of stars indicates number of seasons they will remain underage, assuming EFL age rules don't change. For season 2024/25 an Under 21 Player is someone born on or after 1 January 2003 – so Carty, Hutchinson, Matheson and Khumbeni are all overage, Conway is in his last underage season, but Trevon Bryan has two more after the 2024/25 season.

EDIT 1: 28/12 - Forgot to remove Jack Iredale
EDIT 2: 7/1 Ended Morley's loan and extended Halford/Hayes-Green at FCUM
EDIT 3: 8/1 Extended Eze loan at Chorley
EDIT 4: 13/1 Trevon Bryan recalled

It's a funny position to be in that 5 of the lads not contracted beyond this season started the last game and two of the others have both started double figures this term - 10 for Jay and 18 for Cogley.

Doesn't give us the usual freedom to get rid and make space.

I can't really see many of those expiring this year as staying here. Santos could, but I think he'll want to test himself higher up IF a champo club took a punt on him. Baxter also will be eyeing up a move up the divisions.
Age and treachery will always overcome youth and skill!

And the key to a result is a good :kettle:
