Fair enough. I'll be hoping for a proper target man too but ultimately a new manager.

Plenty are there will you.

Whilst he's manager I'll want good players who have a hope of making it work enough to get us up through the play-offs.

I think any attack-minded coach will be able to make good use of Randall, though. Fergie did.

Posh fans don’t tend to be too arsed about this fella leaving, which I’m going to take as not a great sign.

Randall is an excellent footballer. We'll do well if we get him.
I’ve never paid enough attention to Randall to have a valid opinion on him, and if he’s an upgrade on Lolos then he’s probably going to improve our team. I just have my doubts that he’s the type to really turn this shit season around.

Is he better than Maghoma, Ghost?

There's at least one Bolton fan who's not too fussed about Charles leaving ( :D ). Doesn't mean he's not worth signing.

They felt the same about Harrison Burrows a couple of years ago.

What were our fans saying about Morley 6 moths ago?

It took Randall a while to break through at Posh and his going straight from League Two to the Championship was too much for him. A lot of heir fans made their minds up then. Last season changed a lot of minds, but not all.

In the summer he made it very clear he wanted to come here and that was it for a lot of Posh fans.

He's clearly not been happy there this season and he's thus been a magnet for a lot of the blame for a poor term.

He hasn't been as committed this season as he should have been. That's been obvious. They are probably right to want rid of him, because he wants to be elsewhere and he's worth money.

Same was true of Collins at Bristol after he had his head turned. Same was true of Dion at Accy.

All good players, just time to move on.

No, mate, he's not.

He's more intelligent than Paris, in a football sense. His movement is better and his pressing is too.

He's not got the same raw talent.

I think he can be one of the top players in the division, but then so can Collins.

It's reasonable to worry about whether he'll drag us through games we'd otherwise not win. He won't. He'd have made a difference against Mansfield, though. He'll turn those kinds of games into draws or wins.

He's one piece. We need others. I think we all want a dominant centre back, for a start.

I don't get why anybody would rejoice in Dion leaving, but Bolton fans are strange and we have very short memories.
I don't rejoice in anyone leaving, not really.

I will rejoice in us changing our fortunes and I believe if the likes of Evatt or Charles has to go then so be it. Personally, I don't see us improving if we get rid of our top scorer. Eoin Doyle was an obvious one as he didn't manage to make the step up to perform in League One, whereas Charles has been prolific for us.

What’s the point in having a #10 with the way we play? Especially away from home. They’re pointless.

They end up stood still on the other teams centre backs while we wait for their midfielders to get back into their shape and stop the ball going into any pockets.

This is not the signing we need. He’s everything we have supposedly signed 23 times in the last 5 windows.

Sheehan is the only technical midfielder we’ve had in our squad this season, so I’d disagree on that front. Perhaps bringing Morley back changes that.

We left the summer window without having signed a natural #10. Prior to that we got one on loan.

It's just not true that we're supposed to have already solved that issue.

I'm not sure Evatt's had a permanent player like this on the books at any stage. I could be wrong. Carlos may be the closest, but he's been injured for 18 months in reality.

A proper #10, a striker with genuine pace and a wingback who can regularly beat his man. Those are the three attacking "needs" Evatt hasn't added for his system to work fully, regardless of any character issues or anything else.

Perhaps now with Tutu back fit and Randall possibly showing up we are getting closer.

Just don't let Vic sneeze near him or they'll both be out for the rest of the season.

Lolos was signed as a #10. That’s all he is. Hes not a midfielder, he’s not a striker. He’s the in between. I’d put McAtee in that bracket too. And CMG.

Lolos I agree with, but CMG is a wide forward/winger, and I think McMatee is a 9.

Like I said in the summer, we left the window without the #10 we needed.

None of those lads are that. All good players and all would have a role if we were still trying to play two behind a lone striker, next to someone like Randall.

With one behind two you have to have a lad with the brain to work the available space and feed the runners, in the same way that Sheehan does as a #6 playing the pivot role. Dapo has all the ability to do it, but was uninterested in learning the role.

Randall will make the ball stick and hurt teams. He very rarely loses possession, except to try and make something happen in the final third.

Lolos was signed to be back-up to Randall and continue to develop as he converts from 9 to 10. Carlos is closest - more varied goal threat, but not the brain of the Posh lad. Macca is a pressing player who also brings some flair and goals with him.

As ever, what terms we use don't matter all that much. Randall will probably slot into the team as a nominal 8, but he'll do his work in that half space and running into the channels.

And that is exactly what we need a creative No8, if Randall can play that creative role in a midfield 3 then he will be an asset, but he will need a physical tackling midfielder alongside him and I'm not sure that Thomason is that player, unless his form improves dramatically.

Valid.

If you are playing Sheehan and Randall in a midfield then you'd better have someone in there who will take no shit.

Morley and Tommo behind Randall might work.
