I've no idea how you have Macca as a "Pressing" playe Ghost?! That's what IE wants him to do when he plays in a 3 up front, but he then also needs to drop in and press when we're out of possession. The bloke wears shinpads the size of a 20 pence piece and as far as I can remember, has never won a second ball or put a tackle in when he's supposed to be pressing their centre midfield.
Post Exeter edit: Blimey, he actually did some defensive pressing!

I see Randall wasn't in Peterborough's squad for their game at Wrexham today.

Apparently Darren Ferguson has just said that P/Boro have accepted a bid for Randall - not sure whether its us, but they have accepted a bid.TonyDomingos wrote: ↑Sat Jan 04, 2025 5:11 pmI see Randall wasn't in Peterborough's squad for their game at Wrexham today.

This feels like every other exciting transfer. We got Collins and McAtee, but pretty much lost Dion in the process. Now we can spend a few more months discussing our not an 8/9/10 options, with another in the mix. Anyone know "the plan?"

Yeah, so basically he gets us out of defence and into attacking situations faster. Once the ball is there he offers the kind of retention our other players don't.
If the build-up goes to other players he offers genuine pace in behind. If the ball goes direct he offers great supporting runs.
So his movement should reduce the amount of sideways passing at the back and he should increase our goal output.

What’s your reading of the Vic situation, Ghost?
He’d need to have had terrible flu to have not been fit enough to make the squad for four games in a row…

Yeeeeees, but 4 games at this time of year isn't actually a long time. If he's had really nasty flu (or covid or something) then it could be just genuine illness.
It's obviously suspicious to be out with "sickness" during, or heading into, a transfer window.
Will be sad if he goes, because he's my little lad's favourite player and we've never got the best from him. However, he's the most obvious forward to cull if we need to change things up.
I've also literally just sorted out getting his signed shirt framed for my lad - so the timing would suck.

Is he still effective when folk pass the ball 5 feet behind him? If not, probably no pointGhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Sat Jan 04, 2025 6:18 pmYeah, so basically he gets us out of defence and into attacking situations faster. Once the ball is there he offers the kind of retention our other players don't.

If we’re using cash from a Vic sale to pay for Randall I suppose that’s fair enough. You’d really hope Randall’s fee isn’t anywhere close to a million now, though.

One from Johnston today - he had two runners in for simple balls and he somehow put it out for a throw.Abdoulaye's Twin wrote: ↑Sat Jan 04, 2025 7:49 pmIs he still effective when folk pass the ball 5 feet behind him? If not, probably no point![]()
Some of it looked like fatigue. It's a lot of football over the festive period and you saw lads straining after running 15-20 yards. Touches went very quickly when carrying the ball. That's obviously not an excuse for the rest of the season, but a few looked leggy today.
Still, they kept going and we won.
If I were Ian I'd be tempted to give them some recovery time this week.

It is going to be in excess of £1m.
Posh need about £1.4m just to break even on him.
It'll be structured, but it'll be a fair amount.

Missed this from Ilesy the other day;
“ The club are also weighing up the next moves for Dan Nlundulu, who is at Cambridge United on loan, and Nelson Khumbeni, who is at Accrington. Evatt says loan and permanent offers have been received for both players but an extension to their current loan has not been ruled out.”

We're not intending to use Dan this window, so if we can get a decent amount for him that might make sense. If Evatt wants to assess him in the summer then fair enough. He's doing okay at Cambridge. Not tearing the league up, but better than most predicated. Clearly good enough for this level.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Sat Jan 04, 2025 10:47 pmMissed this from Ilesy the other day;

Our midfield has Morley, Thomason and Sheehan contracted for at least 2 more seasons beyond this one. So Khumbeni may find it nearly impossible to break into the #6 options. Money for him would be excellent, as it'd mean income from the B Team. If we sell Morley that maths changes, but it's still a tough pathway.
Conway is the one with the obvious route into the team. One of the best wingbacks in League Two and has natural space in the squad next season. We have an option for 12 months on him, but I'd like him to sign a new deal.
The loans this season have gone brilliantly, to be honest. Well done to the staff and players.
