Interesting, and even that would likely be in instalments

What we have now is two players, in Collins and Randall, who are capable of hitting double figures for both goals and assists. That's huge for any football club at any level.
We have players on the books who can play that pivot, deep-lying role.
So in terms of our attacking play we need to show we can get the wingbacks working and then one of the lads to really step up as a penalty box finisher.
Can Tutu get to the point where he regularly starts games? Can Charles, Vic or Macca start putting the ball in the net from 6-12 yards?
If the answer is yes to both those then we may start to climb the league. If the answer is no then we need to rejig a bit before February if we want a shot at the play-offs route.
All eyes on what we do to improve the defensive potential.

I don't know how much is upfront, but it's not the whole amount. Marc Iles just told someone on Twitter that the fee is less than £1.2m, so he may have been briefed properly by the club.
Regardless, Posh have had a bit of a nightmare there. They've gone from rejecting a lot more money to "build around" him to flogging him off cheap in the very next window.
On top of that they are losing more key players in the summer.
They will recover, because they always recruit well eventually. Chris Conn-Clarke (effectively now Randall's replacement) looks like he'll be really good next season. At the minute, though, yikes.

Evatt playing lads out of position is going too far now.

Couple of things.
Firstly, the Randall/Randell thing is going to bend my head. I'm going to have retrain myself to call our wingback Williams - which I consciously avoided when we signed him, as we already had one of those (whom ironically we all called MJ).
Secondly, is there a maximum number of players with socks rolled down / tiny shinpads? I can see this becoming a stylistic flashpoint.

It's an inevitable result of banning the kinds of tackles that made shinpads so vital.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Thu Jan 09, 2025 12:53 pmSecondly, is there a maximum number of players with socks rolled down / tiny shinpads? I can see this becoming a stylistic flashpoint.
It's easier to move and turn without big, chunky pads - so with fewer leg-breaker tackles a lot of young players don't bother with pads at all. Senior players are likely to increasingly go with smaller ones as one generation ages out.

the lack of socks and shin pads is definitely starting to irk some! It’s an odd one isn’t it!!!
No idea if this Randall chap is any good and the answer. Looking forward to seeing him play. Suspect Lolos gets very limited chances now and could well end out on loan.

Welcome Randall, an important cog which was missing in our system. Lets not break him down in our training methods. Hopefully Tutu can be fit for the rest of the season. If so, we will be unstoppable going forward. Now to the defense. We just wont get to the playoffs if we have to score 3 each game to get 3pts.

So who’s off then?
It now seems quite likely that Dempsey will be de-registered for the remainder of the season. I’d then put Morley to Wycombe and Vic to somewhere abroad as next most likely.

Lolos was signed to learn the role behind Randall, I think. Given that, and the fact he's coming back from injury, I don't think he'll have an issue being on the bench most games.officer_dibble wrote: ↑Thu Jan 09, 2025 1:06 pmSuspect Lolos gets very limited chances now and could well end out on loan.

I think we’ll keep Lolos on the bench. Reckon he’s done enough, for Evatt at least, with his few goals to stay.

So mendes Gomes goes then? Which is a shame for me as he is the one who gives us the ability to change formations. Not that Evatt is bothered by that I suppose!!

Maybe on loan. Can’t see us recouping the fee we paid for him coming off the back of a long injury.officer_dibble wrote: ↑Thu Jan 09, 2025 1:19 pmSo mendes Gomes goes then? You'd imagine a loan might be on the cards.
However, it might end up being like the summer. We'd overloaded the squad and were scrambling for options to send lads out. Half a dozen could have gone, but it ended up being Morley et al.
If there's a market for Lolos and not CMG then maybe it happens that way around.
Injuries have had a huge impact on that planning efficacy.
If we could get someone in at the back who stays fit, and lose a sicknote, that'd be another step forward.

The counter-point to the "who goes out of Lolos or CMG?" is Evatt's need to have 3 forwards on the bench at all times.
We currently have 7 forwards of some description. So we're only 1 injury safe.
It may be that we're now on ideal Evatt squad numbers in the three attacking positions and Dempsey being deregistered is enough.
Lolos and CMG might stay unless and until we pick up another forward. Which we seem to want to do.

Whether its a big physical No9 or a big physical non nonsense CB - if we are to sign anyone else in this window it needs to be one of these. IMO we are crying out for physicality & steeliness in the side to complement the Randall types.

I would tend to agree.Bertie Wooster wrote: ↑Thu Jan 09, 2025 1:50 pmWhether its a big physical No9 or a big physical non nonsense CB - if we are to sign anyone else in this window it needs to be one of these.
