The facilities at that training ground really do need upgrading. It will hold us back
Very much. We also need a new pitch.

I don't think we can expect any real work at Lostock unless we go up and even then we might need some time up there.

Not sure if there is any truth in the Charles exit talk, but there are a few rumours starting (as you would expect if true about Charles) to surface in regards to strikers who we are looking at.

I was told that the players have not been able to get on the grass this week due to the weather - Yesterday was their day-off naturally, but if it's true, it is a concern that when we finally get a mid-week fixture break, we can't use that time as productively as we'd need/like
Just on this: Evatt:

“We have trained fully this week, obviously we have had to train at the stadium today because of the underfoot conditions at Lostock. But that is the benefit of having undersoil heating so match prep wasn’t affected. The boys trained really well and we are looking forward to the game on Saturday.”
That's a relief. So the advice must have been that they weren't able to train at the training ground (again) - The facilities at that training ground really do need upgrading. It will hold us back
I would say the signing of players and capex on things like training ground improvements aren't mutually exclusive. It's not like it's a trade-off between signing a new striker and fixing the roof.

You'd know better than me, but when I was in a bit ago the line was that essential work would get done, but there'd be none of the "aspirational" work unless we went up.

Has that changed, or is it still right?

Yep. And of course if you train too much on the pitch, THAT suffers, and then your perfectly-prepared bowling green's gone.

My feeling is that the Charles stuff is just internet nonsense.

Not having cold weather training facilities is definitely bothersome.

Euxton was far from perfect, but it was leagues ahead of what Evatt has to work with now. The bacon butties were crap, but you can't have everything.

We do need to have that goal in mind if we ever make it back to the Premier League. Yes to try to stay there, but also to get back to looking like a proper football club again.

I don't know how far you can improve the land at Lostock, as it's always had poor drainage; but I'd like to not kick the bucket before seeing us have proper youth and senior facilities. You're potentially talking tens of millions, though.

I would say there is lot of planned investment in the pipeline, which will come to fruition if the 11 men on the pitch perform :D

A number of players with whom we've been linked in previous windows (or are supposedly currently spying on) are involved in the FA Cup tonight.

Should make for interesting viewing.

See I think it’s much harder to make a crap sausage butty than a crap bacon butty. So when at a new butty gaff always play safe by ordering sausage.

Could well have been donkey and was pretty cold.

Fat not rendered at all, crap bread, too much butter...still a traumatic memory.

But it reminds me of the best piece of advice PG ever gave me. We were sitting down to breakfast and he looked him in the eye and said, "Have the porridge."

I only wish I'd listened.

If you can't make a competent bacon/sausage butty then you shouldn't be allowed near a kitchen except to wash the dishes.

Are you sure? Was it not just Evatt in a wig?

Ian's job is so safe I was wondering if he'd just gone full Norman Bates and replaced her.
