I'd just like to point out that Evatt has achieved precisely feck all with us, third place in League 4 and a Pizza Cup win. Book the open-top bus, feck me.

Well...
Has has taken a sinking (sunk at the time?) ship to 1 promotion, a cup win (however Mickey Mouse it may be..), and playoffs of division 3 twice.
Precisely NOT feck all I'd say...

If Evatt gets binned tomorrow morning he'll leave the club in a vastly better state than he found it and have given the next guy a platform to succeed.

Dave, you are entitled to your opinion as is everyone else, however Spartan is spot on - given all of the financial backing that he's had he's achieved nothing, absolutely zero. In fact I would go so far as to say that he's under achieved - 4.5 years in the job and his team are a mediocre mid table league 1 side playing the worst most turgid football since the 80's.dave the minion wrote: ↑Sun Jan 12, 2025 4:38 pmWell...

If he left tomorrow he’s wasted millions and millions of pounds and three years of everyone’s lives.GhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Sun Jan 12, 2025 4:42 pmIf Evatt gets binned tomorrow morning he'll leave the club in a vastly better state than he found it and have given the next guy a platform to succeed.
Nothing more and nothing less.
Getting Bolton out of league two isn’t an achievement. It’s a bare minimum. Getting them stuck in league one isn’t a shame, it’s a total unmitigated failure.
And anyone who takes over will almost certainly find they have seen all the money before them wasted.
Re: High Noon Cover up. V Rotherham away Sat 11th Jan 12-30.
I honestly think another coach could get this exact squad promoted automatically. Pure conjecture, of course, but I reckon the players aren’t really the problem.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Sun Jan 12, 2025 4:52 pmIf he left tomorrow he’s wasted millions and millions of pounds and three years of everyone’s lives.GhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Sun Jan 12, 2025 4:42 pmIf Evatt gets binned tomorrow morning he'll leave the club in a vastly better state than he found it and have given the next guy a platform to succeed.

I’d be fascinated with a proper manager - not a new aged modern nonsense one - how many they’d be keen to work with.The_Gun wrote: ↑Sun Jan 12, 2025 4:59 pmI honestly think another coach could get this exact squad promoted automatically. For example Allardyce - how many of these players he’d get a tune out of and how many he’d recommend the club kept. I honestly don’t know the answer. But I’d absolutely love to find out just for curiosity sake.

That's fine then. It's easy. If a promotion and cup win is absolutely nothing, then I'll happily accept more of absolutely nothing going forward.....Bertie Wooster wrote: ↑Sun Jan 12, 2025 4:43 pmDave, you are entitled to your opinion as is everyone else, however Spartan is spot on - given all of the financial backing that he's had he's achieved nothing, absolutely zero. And there it is again. We're Bolton, we're massive, we therefore have a god-given right to ply our trade in at least the 2nd tier of English football......BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Sun Jan 12, 2025 4:52 pm

He's achieved nothing if you think that Bolton Wanderers have a god-given right to be in the top two tiers of English football, and if you think everything below that is somehow beneath us.
I think he should go (he should have gone months ago) and I think we should have been promoted last year. But to write off all achievements of the last four years is Billy Big Bollocks football snobbery.

Re: High Noon Cover up. V Rotherham away Sat 11th Jan 12-30.
And exactly the kind of thing we've always hated in relegated Premier League teams when we've been in the Championship (or the old money versions).
One lad at Rotherham yesterday was opining that Bolton should never lose a game in League One, because we're Premier League.
There is nothing about this club, as it currently exists, that means it should finish top of this division. The budgets and facilities are all outdone by other clubs currently down here.
Evatt should be sacked this season. He's not done enough and his excuses don't account for the level of performance.
He's the reason why this season isn't good enough, though. He's put the football department in a position where this is unacceptable.

Re: High Noon Cover up. V Rotherham away Sat 11th Jan 12-30.
Phil Neal was manager we had rattled buckets to keep the club going. Still nobody say there thinking bobbing along in the third division losing play offs was good enough. And money was incredibly tight back then. Way way way below what Evatt has had to spend. And the ground was a total dump. Lovely. But a dump. We had no training facilities. Yet no fan piped up with ‘oh how ridiculous to think we have a god given right’. Nobody has ever thought we have a god given right. But, when you’ve spent millions as Bolton manager and still are in league one you know you’ve done a very very poor job. Regardless of the circumstances under which you came into the job.dave the minion wrote: ↑Sun Jan 12, 2025 5:36 pmAnd there it is again. I think this too, there's a lot of talk about weak minds and the like but I'm not sure, I see good players trying their best being hamstrung by Evatt's insane tactics. Was Morley weak minded when he was top of the league?The_Gun wrote: ↑Sun Jan 12, 2025 4:59 pmI honestly think another coach could get this exact squad promoted automatically. I think a good manager could get this team up this season.

I think we can all agree he's managed to take us backwards this year. Quite some achievement, that.

He has more talent in his squad and is playing worse football.Worthy4England wrote: ↑Sun Jan 12, 2025 6:12 pmI think we can all agree he's managed to take us backwards this year. Quite some achievement, that.
Most games look like the worst performances last season. Sometimes we get a result, but we don't play well.
Another manager would come in and get immediate results. The task would be finding the man who can sustain them for at least 18 months to get us up.
Re: High Noon Cover up. V Rotherham away Sat 11th Jan 12-30.
Well we have no god given right to even be in this league so we should be celebrating, that at least we're not in the relegation zone. #EliteMentalityWorthy4England wrote: ↑Sun Jan 12, 2025 6:12 pmI think we can all agree he's managed to take us backwards this year. Quite some achievement, that.

I think that's possible, certainly (I mean if we didn't we'd probably stick not twist). If the new person, when it occurs, can get rid of aimless tippy-tappy whilst they're about it. That would be another win. But, when I look at our defending and the buck stops with Evatt, there must be others equally as culpable within the coaching team.GhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Sun Jan 12, 2025 6:16 pmHe has more talent in his squad and is playing worse football.Worthy4England wrote: ↑Sun Jan 12, 2025 6:12 pmI think we can all agree he's managed to take us backwards this year. I expect us to be in the Champo at least. I expected that would've been a last season thing, given we were top in Jan. I understand things might get in the way of my expectations but we've watched unineresting shite for a while now. Some of the most arse-wrenchingly boring 3-0 flat track bully wins I can recall. Easy pleased, some folks.Spartan2 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 12, 2025 6:30 pmWell we have no god given right to even be in this league so we should be celebrating, that at least we're not in the relegation zone. #EliteMentalityWorthy4England wrote: ↑Sun Jan 12, 2025 6:12 pmI think we can all agree he's managed to take us backwards this year.
