Where fellow sufferers gather to share the pain, longing and unrequited transfer requests that make being a Wanderer what it is...

Interested to get your thoughts on what it might take for Evatt to be sacked before the end of the season, Ghost.

Do you think it would be being threatened by relegation, or perhaps the playoffs becoming out of reach?
Relegation threat would force it, yes.

Aside from that I think he's manager until summer now.

Not saying that's right (either my opinion or Sharon's actions), but it's what I now expect.

Dunno if I said it on here (I think I did, but can't be arsed checking), but I was snowed in with a neighbour from over the valley who works for another League One club and we've been having breakfast together. He was of the view that Evatt has the safest job in the EFL. The club absolutely believes in the idea that you don't sack a manager based on individual periods, but general trends. So if they can they will keep him on.

As soon as she backed him and it became obvious he was going to be given money I assumed he had until at least March - regardless of results.

This was Chris Markham's take from around 12 months back...
Maybe game 11 will do it.
Thing with that is that for all her business experience (undoubted and welcome) I doubt she's ever had such a... public-facing role.

I doubt that if things were going sub-optimally at The Can-D Food Co she got tens of thousands of people screaming "your processing and preserving of fish, crustaceans and molluscs is SHITE"
Yeah, mate, that's true, for sure. But I think it probably shows she's more "stick than twist" and it might take something rather more monumental than a below average run of form, to move the dial on what is likely to be her way of working.

That's just a focussed in snippet, but the full script was all about doing things differently than the footballing "norm."
Yep, of course. And that's sometimes a laudable aim. But as per Chesterton's Fence, some norms are norms for a reason. You can rip up the rulebook and abolish the norms on breathing oxygen, but not for long :D

I dunno. She might have the strength of character to ignore several thousand seething fans screaming at her boy and, increasingly, herself. But it's a much bigger test of that ideal than what Markham said in a PR interview when we were still tracking upwards.

For sure and probably with knobs on, but, I would say she seems pretty strong willed and if she absolutely believes this season is just a "cyclical" feature of football on a swings and roundabout basis, this could be her hill to try and die on. (Anyone reading from the Bolton staff, that's metaphorical, please don't send rozzers)

PG stood up for Owen for longer than he should, but it took a while into the Championship season for it to get really toxic at the way games.

Rotherham was pretty toxic.

He did, for sure, in my book.
