Reasons to be cheerful. At home to Cambridge Sat 18th Jan 3'clock.
There was once a guy called Ian who fronted a group called The Blockheads and...
Having lost five games in a row and shoring up the League, one might hopefully expect our own University to out do the renowned Cambridge in cheerful anticipation. The actual reality may be somewhat different.
Our manager is hypothetically sitting on a barrel of gunpowder with his breeches ass on fire. Unless he pulls off a party trick come Saturday, the firework display might put Guy Fawkes to shame. There are no hiding places left to dive into and selling our leading striker cheaply may well be seen as a wee bit suicidal. Last night's result means nothing t all except a run out jog to blow the dust off few squad members and well, what's left to say?
Can we Hit em with a rythmn stick then? ....

One of the easiest fixtures of the season, but I’m far from confident that we’ll win it.
1-1 draw with plenty of aggro towards the manager from the stands.

I won't be there but there are some rumours around of bedsheets & tennis ball protests at Evatt by some fans on Saturday. I would assume if any fans actually plan to do this then it would only happen if we are losing.

Tennis balls on the pitch, come on now.Bertie Wooster wrote: ↑Wed Jan 15, 2025 12:29 pmI won't be there but there are some rumours around of bedsheets & tennis ball protests at Evatt by some fans on Saturday. Surely we should throw any tennis balls sideways and backwards to make a point?
Think we'll win this because they're so poor but we'll do our best not to. 2-1 win.

I won't be doing any form of bed sheet waving, or protesting. If I do go, and that's a big If, I'll get behind the team as normal and if required, will make my feelings known at full time

Yeah, that's fecking ridiculous. There are a load of kids who are genuinely enjoying it at this point. They've seen crisis clubs and now they get to act out as if we are one. What this generation calls "main character syndrome."
Binning a manager and saving a club from extinction are not the same thing and a few need a light slap.

Bolton wanderers is in crisis. This is far wider than a manager - people are disillusioned and fed up. Wait for season ticket sales, and future financing.GhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Wed Jan 15, 2025 1:12 pmYeah, that's fecking ridiculous. There are a load of kids who are genuinely enjoying it at this point. Evatt had he gone it would have offered a lifeline but as it stands there is likely to be a major issue. When will the decide to put season tickets on sale? And what narrative can they create?

I will also be there, supporting the team as usual.
I really do hope a stupid group of so called "fans" don't spoil the day by acting like small spoilt children.....

The only thing that spoils the day is the sorry lot on the pitch and their manager.dave the minion wrote: ↑Wed Jan 15, 2025 7:24 pmI will also be there, supporting the team as usual.

Hope there’s protests at the end of the game and at a point we can’t recover (2 or 3 nil down usually does it) personally. Would like things to start getting really uncomfortable for the board now. Bolton Wanderers not Ian Evatt FC.
As an aside and I don’t know where else to put this, but listened to half season summary/predictions from not the top 20 on the way home. They had us as top/second in the summer and we barely featured, just a reading of Sharon’s vote of confidence and a view that we can’t sort ourselves out now. Barnsley and Leyton Orient their picks to take the final play off places. We’re a shit show.

Are you actively hoping we lose?

No I’m not mate
I’m fairly certain we won’t win mind
I’m saying I don’t want protests that affect the result, but I think when this lot go a goal down it’s only heading one way anyway - so 0-2 with 15 to go, bring out the bedsheets. Helpful for Sharon to see them before she totters of for some champagne.

Yeah, I think if we lost to Cambridge and Ian started moaning about the "Pressure of the crowd..." I might utter a few expletives.
Lost the last 5, that lot. If we do our Charity FC bit it'll get nasty and rightly so.

Yep. No issue with the changes. Cringed a bit at the banner but fine. But anything more is ridiculous imo. That's for your Ken Andersons.GhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Wed Jan 15, 2025 1:12 pmYeah, that's fecking ridiculous. There are a load of kids who are genuinely enjoying it at this point. There's a manager I think they should sack. I'd wager most of the fanbase think he should be sacked. They should sack him. But they've just dropped the best part of £1m on a new player, no chance the lights are going out anytime soon. It's part of being a football fan. We all want to win. Most teams can't. Grow up.

What about pitchforks, bedsheets and torches? They're pretty conventional.

One group of lads at Rotherham were agreeing that fans should boycott games because "Nobody should have to pay to watch a midtable club" and I was tempted to ask if they realised they'd bought Bolton Wanderers tickets by mistake.Prufrock wrote: ↑Thu Jan 16, 2025 12:09 amYep. God forbid we get promoted.

It's very Michael Gove saying he wanted all UK schools to be above average.
