Dion's line is that it was lack of game time that was a factor in his decision to leave.

There was a story about him meeting duff in a local hotel I think. If you want championship football Dion we’re your best bet is all that was needed to be said!

"Ooh Sharon's taken a sore one there, surely the referee's going to have to do something"

"Someone's just gone in two-footed on Ian there, will he be be able to recover from this?"

"I imagine we'll be looking at Steven Schumacher, John?"
"Oh, we will; but I'd like to see him used more in the role he had at Plymouth. They used him more as a tea lady."
"Er...tea lady?"
"I'm just not sure you're getting the most out of him as a manager, I'd like to see him upstairs more often."
"Serving tea?"
"His tea delivery is top notch, Derek. We just don't see it enough from the management position."
"Thanks, John."

We wouldn't see any of the meeting itself as they'd be showing seven replays of them arriving in the car park.

My very favourite Derekism, which he does at least once per half, is when he briefly gets inordinately, inaccurately excited about something. "OH THAT'S A GREAT BALL oh actually it's gone out of play."BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Thu Jan 16, 2025 11:53 amImagine derek would be excitedly shouting about something only for it to simply be the list of apologies.

Have to say I genuinely like Derek and John. They're peak "club commentary team" and I'm entirely behind them.
An absolutely undeniable club legend with a combination of support, critique and bizarre nonsense.
A commentator who is learning his trade and often gets a bit lost, but never falters.
All delivered in stunning Scottish accents through some form of potato mic.
Wouldn't have it any other way.
"The ball falls to Dion Charles 4 yards from goal here! Oh and that's a bad miss."

I watched the Crawley (*edit* may have been Northampton, actually. Watched both.) game again last night and there was a superb example of this.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Thu Jan 16, 2025 12:38 pmMy very favourite Derekism, which he does at least once per half, is when he briefly gets inordinately, inaccurately excited about something. Rico sprayed the ball wide to Cogely...
"A great ball from Santos out to Dacres-Cogley. Oh, what a great first touch that is!"
...ball dribbles out of play...
"Well, it was."
John chimes in.
"Great first touch, Derek. Not the second."
"No, John, no. Not the second."
There was no second touch.
It's just fantastic and well worth the money.

∆ Agreed. I bear them no ill will at all – and good God, even a man as allergic to hyperbole as me would state on the record that McGinlay is a million times better than Harlan or Henshaw.

I can't remember which game it was, but the best one was Derek asked John a question and there was almost silence, except for the sound of John obviously having a chat with someone else in the press box, then an mild "Oof" of an gentle elbow nudge and a sudden, "Oh, you've got to be doing better there, Derek" that was completely unrelated to anything.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Thu Jan 16, 2025 1:07 pm∆ Agreed. Broadcasting gold.
In on-topic news, our best friend Peter is reporting that Gareth Ainsworth (all hail him) is trying to steal Terry Taylor from us. Stevenage also mentioned.

Aye they are fine. Though a long long long way behind the great Dave Hinson and Stuart Butt in terms of ‘club commentary team’.GhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Thu Jan 16, 2025 12:47 pmHave to say I genuinely like Derek and John. They're peak "club commentary team" and I'm entirely behind them.

Well, it's not as much of a ding dong do as Higson's legendary work - I'd agree there.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Thu Jan 16, 2025 1:14 pmAye they are fine. Though a long long long way behind the great Dave Hinson and Stuart Butt in terms of ‘club commentary team’.
