Reasons to be cheerful. At home to Cambridge Sat 18th Jan 3'clock.

Where fellow sufferers gather to share the pain, longing and unrequited transfer requests that make being a Wanderer what it is...

If he's effed and jeffed at the fans, can we sack him without compo? Bringing the club into disrepute kind of thing?
They would need proof not just hearsay, however if someone caught him saying it on their phone - who knows ?
Let’s be really honest here, I can’t stand the man but managers do this all the time. If he’s mouthed fck off to the fans it’s hardly a sacking offence.

He should be sacked for his appalling attitude and management but that’s a very different thing.

The man is an utter prick, he now says that we need a traditional No9 - how many transfer windows has he had to bring one in ? and the defence is also an issue - what ?, he's only just noticed this after all the weak as piss goals we've conceded.

He just makes it up as he goes along, it's a different excuse every week its abysmal management and it's astonishing how he's being allowed to continue week after week spouting the same old shite & playing the same old shite football.

So midway through his fifth, yes fifth, season after spending day after day telling us that we shouldn’t be crossing the ball or going direct with some pseudo modern football psycho babble nonsense he’s now openly saying we need a big target man who we can hit crosses at.

Dear oh dear. How useless is Sharon? You only have to listen to know he’s just making this up as he goes.

It’s ace isn’t it. As tepid as we were / are going forwards a clean sheet wins that game every time.

But Ms Brittan possibly only listens to Evatt, she know very little about football and seemingly knows no better - he can probably tell her anything he wants and she'll buy into it. I was going to say something else but it may have been interpreted the wrong way !

I really doubt this is the case. Primarily because Sharon is not the sole owner of this football club.

I will tell Evatt what the club needs. Seeing as he’s clearly had no clue at all - we need him gone. We need all the clueless idiots who have backed his modern football psychobabble in the background gone too - Markham et al.

Then we need a back four.

We need two physical and dependable centre backs to play in a pair together. If he’s fit that’s Toal plus another. At a push Forrester might be one. But absolutely need to sign two big ugly no nonsense centre backs.

We then need a left back. Schon isn’t it. Johnstone is having a mare of a season.

I think Jones/JDC/Tutu are enough RB options.

Then we require two physical hard running midfield players. Who can protect the back three and the centre of the pitch. Morley to play in front of them.

We need a target man to lead the line. I think Collins should get a go out wide in a front three. But he has to work hard. We then need to sign two wingers.

That’s what is needed. No less than that.

Reasons to be cheerful: We've just earned a point off second from bottom Cambridge and we're joint 8th/9th best team in Division One, and our ex-captain has just been hauled off accused of abusing the fans. This on our home pitch too. Just waiting for the manager to announce "We'll go with what we've got", and then Dion Charles to stick a couple past us next Saturday and the balloon will really fly away.

It really is blowing bubbles up our sphincters. Think Insane called it (this thread or another), it's consultants bollocks and gaslighting for the most part. This is the only way, and the best we've seen is a record breaking* number of goal and no promotion. Needs an adult in the building, before the Champ Man crew leave everyone with a piss poor, easy pleased product. We lose 4-1 and they espouse the one coz it had 15 passes in it against no fcuker who can tackle. Boooooring!

are you playing 4 or 5 at the back?

tbh yours sounds as depressing as the current setup, just with more pashun.

4 at the back. 4231 for me.

I agree it doesn’t sound scintillating. But that’s the point. We need to first be solid. Have a shape that works. The find scintillating players who can add the ingredients on top needed. But a solid base is the cake and without the cake icing ain’t getting you anywhere but a mess.

I agree we need solidity, but having 2 sledgehammers in central defence and another 2 in central midfield is putting a lot on a not overly mobile Morley and the big strapping lad up front. I'd prefer 2 stoppers at the back with a couple of mids that can dig in but also move the ball quickly and pick a pass. Balance is what we need, not just to lurch to the other extreme.

Listening to the post match interview on the way home, with Evatt, he said, “ if we don’t go up , we all know what that means for me” so end of season it is.
Also Keith Hill, post match pundit name dropped two players who he thinks would have an immediate impact on our team. Lee Gregory, striker at Mansfield and Lee O’Connor defensive def or def mdf at Tranmere.

Doesn't need burning down. Needs to be simpler. Back four. More tempo. Still want to be on the ball, still want to be aggressive off it. But recognise that for Shrewsbury away you're not going to be able to walk it out of your own box for 90 minutes.

Keith hill made a good point on the radio. We don’t press. At all. And I listened to the Brum manager yesterday talk about style and how when he went there he knew the primary thing was that the team had to work. Or the fans would not accept it. He said he believes their style is ‘pressing’ not passing.

We aren’t aggressive. We aren’t imposing ourselves. Also as Hill says ‘possession isn’t control necessarily’. Teams have worked out that you can let us have possession in the right areas and they control the game.
