Re: The ianevattable sacking
Gotta be honest, dunno who I want and I'm not really a formation fanboi, but have a rough idea of what I think I'd like 'em to do.
1) Teach the defence that their free player with the unchallenged header/shot in our 6 yard area is a larger threat than the gap they're closely marking.
2) We can play out from the back, but the predominance of Santos to Sheehan to WB to Santos is fcuking arse wrenching and mist teams have seen that trick. Add some content.
3) Our midfield needs to be able to successfully press and tackle when we're off the press, to help prevent 1 happening in the blink of an eye. It can have three or four bodies in in but it needs to work.
4) 3) includes all of them.
5) I like a bit of versatility, but understand the main job you signed someone up to do. Don't collect signing that would've been great last transfer window, if you can't work out what to do with them this transfer window.
6) FFS explain to me succinctly how all our maybe 8's/9's/10's were/are intended to work together. This will be best done by demonstrating it all working together with some consistency.
7) We all love a good 70th minute. It's usually when we swap our A team collection of 8's/9's and 10's for some not quite as good 8's/9's and 10's so we can watch a game drift. Maybe make substitutions based on the game situation.
Stop any management bullshit. If we're on a long run of iffy results, it's mainly because the job isn't being done properly, people who like you will offer pages of mitigation, but the outcome doesn't change.
If they do that, I'm probably ok with it.

A manager that doesn't tell his players to allow crosses into the box would be nice.

Re: The ianevattable sacking
A new manager could instantly improve us with two easy rules:
1. Fined a weeks wages if a throw in goes backwards
2. Fines 2 weeks wages if a free kick goes sideways or backwards
I look forward to seeing goals from set pieces once again.

Can we please have commit properly to tackles and headers? I don't mean headless lunging (talking to you Capitano). I don't want to see foot wafting in the general direction to make out you tried. I want proper timed tackles when they are appropriate.

See, I don't mind a backwards pass that sets a trap that causes a gap that we then exploit.
I do mind lots of backwards passes that don't set traps because, as Worthy says, everyone's seen that movie.
Anyways - shall we treat ourselves to a new New Manager thread, with poll of potential candidates? Shall I set that up?

Please, yes. There is some hope, at last. We have to back whatever and whoever they decide on. So long as it’s not bloody Rooney…..Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Wed Jan 22, 2025 11:34 amSee, I don't mind a backwards pass that sets a trap that causes a gap that we then exploit.

Re: The ianevattable sacking
I never truly believe I.E would go.
We've blamed Dion on him, same with Dad Bod, lack of form, injuries bad loans and buying and ill fortune and now all will be well by giving him the sack? Do you really believe it? All because the game has changed badly and for the worse and we just can't accept it. Anything we get now is heads or tails from match to match. .
I know I'm a dinosaur but what passes for football is a joke disguised better than a pantomime horse and blame just a convenient solution for accepting reality as my favourite Que Ser, Sera. The truth is we're still behaving like its a sport instead of somewhere for finance to hide its ill-gotten gains, board-room Monopoly in shirts where you can hardly recognise the players names from adverts for bath taps and fried chicken. Can you really believe the manger is the villain, or just a convenient excuse for finding a victim ? Might be worth pointing out that United, Arsenal, City, Chelsea and Liverpool all lose games.

Re: The ianevattable sacking
Well he's gone. Was he sacked then he asked Auntie Sharon to say ut was mutual to save face? Or did the other Board members actually tell Sharon to punt him before another season has been completely written off? We'll never know. I wish IE good fortune in the future but now he's history and the club need to look forward. I have no idea who can do the job next but I do know who shouldn't and that is Sam Allardyce. The amount of people on the BN comments section shouting his name is unreal. He's history too and he should stay there.
For me preferably a manager wh has a promotion out of this league, has experience managing higher up and one who can play different formations for when the situation dictates. Not a lot to ask for. Oh, and one who doesn't have a name like Rooney.

Sacked but they virtually always say ‘mutual consent’ these days. I suspect they might use that and nice send off to reduce compensation. You know ‘if we say mutual consent and write some nice things to help you get a new job can we knock 20% off your compo’?sonicthewhite wrote: ↑Wed Jan 22, 2025 11:55 amWell he's gone. I'm with you on that DSB, but it still needs some velocity and to be ultimately incisive, most of ours are akin to a 7 year old, putting a line of bread balls to a cardboard box held up with a stick, which they will cunningly whip away when the bird arrives.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Wed Jan 22, 2025 11:34 amSee, I don't mind a backwards pass that sets a trap that causes a gap that we then exploit.

Re: The ianevattable sacking
As for people asking for Big Sam….there is no way he will be our next manager….almost no way.
And whilst I agree that appointing him would be bizarre and unlikely to really deliver much….
There is one scenario where Sharon would like to defer an appointment to the summer where the person she/the board want might become available and need someone to get us to there. He’s experienced, would bring an instant appeal factor to the club and I think do things no other realistic appointment could, build instant excitement. But it would be short term and short term only. I think it’s massively unlikely.

Aye, reading the statement there were a few specifics you'd think Ian has asked to go in for his next job application.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Wed Jan 22, 2025 11:57 amSacked but they virtually always say ‘mutual consent’ these days. Suspect it's "you're going" but let's talk about what we can give you Vs what we have to pay you which was mutually agreed.

Re: The ianevattable sacking
Aye - I wonder if he was cheeky enough to ask for a bonus if we get promoted this season. I mean, to some extent he might deserve that, if it's largely his players...

Done late, but at least now done. Have to say I'm surprised she pulled the trigger, but fair play to her in a way. Showed the loyalty we all claim we want to see in football, until it's our club losing games.
The new manager needs to have been picked and sounded out some time ago and on his way now.
He has 12 days to get in the players he needs for a promotion push.

Very surprised by this. Very surprised indeed. It's only a month since Sharron gave him her full backing.
As others have said, thanks for the good times, Ian, but time for someone new to try to take us to the next level. However, this is a highly risky moment for the club with no guarantee it'll get any better.

One would suggest that it’s unlikely a manager is picked and on the way based on what we know.GhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Wed Jan 22, 2025 12:20 pmDone late, but at least now done. Emergency board meeting last night which seems to be opportune given the fact board members were there for another reason.
Signing players up to this week. If it was long planned and new man identified I can’t see that being the case.
Finalizing departure details this morning. Again suggesting not necessarily long in planning.
Re: The ianevattable sacking
I can't believe that any business person, faced with the situation we were in, wouldn't ask their consiglieri to sound out alternatives 'Just in case'. Was that why Richardson was there last night? I hope not, but I suspect we'll find out fairly quickly.
